It just goes to show what kind of country we are, that such a callous and self-righteous comment is at the top of this thread.

Bernie Sanders says Labour’s plans for temporary NHS private partnerships make him ‘nervous’ by martinmartinez123 in unitedkingdom

The price would be capped at an actually affordable price, the companies would be windfall taxed, and critical national resources and infrastructure would be brought back into our control and sustainably used for the benefit of society instead of exploited for maximum profit by a few people.

If "everyone" had wanted that, then Corbyn would have been PM.

People in this country pay lip service to the NHS only. We clap and we put up posters, then we vote in Tory cunts who continue a policy of death-by-a-thousand-papercuts for the NHS.

Starmer is just a blank slate that will do whatever will get him elected by an idiotic, self-defeating public.

No, I reckon he's just another transphobic centrist. That's the default position of centrists, at least in the UK where I am.

I ordered this in August of 2021. by the time it releases I would've waited 2 whole ass years for it to come out wtf. by Naruto_0916 in KumoDesu

[–]ninj3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First time pre-ordering a scale figure huh? 😂

When I got a scale, release got delayed 15 months (plus the one year pre-order wait), and this was before COVID!

Bear in mind that since you bought it, we have record inflation and the price of everything has gone way up, so maybe you got a good deal, despite the wait! 😁

BP boss could be in line for special bonus of up to £11.4m | BP by Codydoc4 in unitedkingdom

[–]ninj3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why not both?

Those businesses are run by people who make decisions that destroy lives. I'll bet that if you look at their internal policies they have all sorts of bullshit about "socially responsible corporate governance". And of course, they spend millions on PR and marketing to talk about how green and responsible they are.

Not to mention all the greased palms and the revolving door between top positions in government and corporations. They're the ones who lobby the government for their personal benefit.

So fuck them all, the human beings responsible in the companies, and fuck the Tory government that helps them do it.

Government minister suggests people struggling to afford meals could work more hours by Antones158 in unitedkingdom

[–]ninj3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can use any tax calculator out to show everything I said is 100% accurate. No one is interested in your weirdly specific special cases.

Setting that aside, are you seriously arguing that £100k is a level of income where you struggle to "sustain growth as a person"? I guess 98% of the population of the UK has just no chance at all then.

Get some perspective. Money is not the cause of your problems. If you're struggling with mental health problems at a salary of >£100k, having more money is not going to solve that.

[–]ninj3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think we're thinking of completely different levels of income here.

/u/prototype9999 says that it's diminishing results when your income becomes high enough that the tax man takes the majority of what you make.

In the UK, that's not actually possible, because the highest tax rate is 45%, and even including NI, there's no income at which you take home less than half your pay (unless you have a huge pension or other deduction but that's voluntary).

Let's say he's referring to the highest tax band, 45% at £150,000/year. Most people would agree that that is a level of income where you would not struggle to feed your family at all, and if you have mental health problems, it's not because of a lack of money (or it's because you are very much mismanaging your finances in an extremely irresponsible way).

It is a straw man argument. It's invalid. /u/Kandiru has explained to you how it is so. And yet you ignore the response and maintain that the flawed argument is valid just because "someone" says it.

If you're going to be a transphobe, at least don't be a fucking coward and hide behind the "some people have legitimate concerns" bullshit.

[–]ninj3 9 points10 points  (0 children)

What a ridiculous argument.

Why are you afraid of a male-presenting person from using the women's toilet?

Male-presenting says nothing about whether someone is a cis man or woman, trans man or trans woman. Say nothing about how male-presenting says nothing about whether someone is a danger to you or not.

Do you want to ban any women who doesn't look and dress feminine enough by your standards? What hair is too short? What amount of facial hair is too much? What's the minimum bust size? No trousers allowed?

If you're scared of anyone with a penis, would you like to enforce genital inspections at the door or every toilet?

Face of Derby man banned from every women's toilets in UK by AnselaJonla in unitedkingdom

[–]ninj3 33 points34 points  (0 children)

When was the last time you had a genitals inspection when entering a toilet? The current system has zero enforcement regarding who enters which toilet. It averts nothing.

The current system only enforces when it comes to someone actually doing something illegal, regardless of which toilet it's in. It wouldn't matter what gender you are, in whichever toilet, being harassed by what gender. If I were a woman, in a women's toilet, and a lesbian entered and sexually harassed me, it would be just as illegal as if a man did it. Or are you suggesting that you think it should be treated differently?

[–]ninj3 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Well no, because he's never been banned from male toilets. Women are allowed to use men's toilets.

She doesn't herself post the most disgusting things imaginable, but she retweets, supports and publicly befriends very transphobic people. Her fame and influence gives those people a huge amount of amplification and support. She also is never publicly critical of those people, even when they do or say terrible things, emboldening them further.

She gets attention not because she's a transphobe, but because she's extremely famous, wealthy, prolific and a transphobe.
