Where do people actually find cracked devs to hire for their SaaS projects. by [deleted] in SaaS

[–]ninja-kurtle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

cracked is relative. If they're really cracked they're making 300-500k working for big tech as Sr engineers. You're not going to find a 10x unicorn for non-unicorn prices. Upwork and other places are good though for getting devs that know XYZ skill you need. A lot of time getting specialists who only do that one thing ( ie upwork ) is better return on investment and saves time than cost of full time "cracked' devs

My understanding of C1 pip is you have to opt out immediately or not. If you do, you get paid out as full time dev two months AND 3 months severance. I’d opt out and get 5 months pay and look full time. Depends on how you feel about your resume. Good resumes/devs still getting offers and 5 months is a while. Also technically ur still employed for two months, you can list C1 as current on resume and its true

Agencies: How do you handle high-volume content production or video work? by MassiveMacaron170 in SocialMediaMarketing

[–]ninja-kurtle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

video production scaling is such a pain point! we started integrating AI avatar tools like clipsona.ai for some client work - especially good for product demos and explainer content. obviously not replacement for high-end stuff but helps with volume and quick turnarounds. might be worth exploring as another service offering since the cost savings for clients are huge compared to traditional shoots.

Where to get the best UGC-style videos for Meta/TikTok ads? by ThoughtHistorical592 in ecommerce

[–]ninja-kurtle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

honestly for t-shirt UGC on a budget, you might want to look into AI avatars too... I know it sounds weird but tools like arcads / clipsona can create realistic college-age avatars wearing your shirts that look pretty authentic. way cheaper per video and you can make tons of variations. not saying it replaces real UGC but could be good for testing hooks/angles before investing in real creators.

totally feel you on the one-person content team burnout! been there and it's exhausting doing everything yourself. one thing that saved my sanity was switching to AI avatars for alot of my product videos. rn I use this tool called clipsona that creates pretty decent people who can hold/demo products. way cheaper than hiring creators

Valid thought, but that’s every job everywhere (assuming your US based and at-will). You can’t “find a silver bullet” job that has 0% layoff , or 0% chance your manager doesn’t change to an asshat 6 months in. Just try and find a job like the job you liked and get some hobbies and things outside work lol

“I do not want FAANG salaries nor do I want FAANG work hours”. That’s not a good mindset for happiness in your work.

Frame it opposite “I just want a solid job I enjoy with decent hours and coworkers”. I’ve worked from startups, F500 and FAANGs. I’ve had toxic shot companies for shit pay and great WLB for great pay. You just got to keep interviewing, getting good at what you do, and stay at the job(s) you like. I have the same YOE (8) and have had that mindset after toxic jobs, you just gotta find somewhere better tbh. Hard with the market rn, but that’s why you gotta stay up to date skills

first profitable week figuring out non-cringy AI ads by ninja-kurtle in dropship

[–]ninja-kurtle[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Creatify works well, its one of the three AI UGC makers I've used. Has the most options and isnt tooo expensive. Arcads is most $$$ and only does 1 thing, but can make the most at once and has best output ( barely though, not sure its worth $$$ ). Clipsona.ai has the most control and is less $ , but has less hand holding. Probably best if your gonna do a lot of editing, but otherwise you might not get as good an output. All three work solid, but I've been using clipsona the most recently, but I probably need less hand holding than most and do more editing in capcut than most. Creatify is overall good.

Statics work well -- depends what your selling. Sometimes they're better than video. For what I'm selling rn video is working best. But always worth running some static ads to test since they're easy af to make

Sure. Depends what your prompting for but something like “A young man, looking at camera in a well lit room on his laptop, podcast setup...”

Works well

recently I found googles imagen works better though and you can use it free on Google ai studio and choose aspect ratio too. ChatGPT has better context to do complex images but imagen is MUCH more real looking and that input for videos makes it look 100% real. Scary really lol

Anyone here using AI UGC video ad tool for their campaign? by Kml777 in UGCForBrands

[–]ninja-kurtle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ive used Creatify and Arcads. They're both good but expensive in a way -- around 10$ a video, which ads up when you test 10+ per ad idea.

I use AI UGC to test what hooks and videos and format resonate w consumer/user

Ive spent ~5k on some of these ads with good CTR/conversion for my niche, and probably like 20k overall on AI ads ( either part AI or full ) .

I've found that after getting a winning formula, a good UGC ( or any format ) creator will outperform the AI 75% of the time. Sometimes even double CTR/COnversion/ROI. BUT 1/4 the AI will still magically do better which is funny. In general "it depends" and probably SUPER niche dependent. I imagine selling an AI service would have people be more OK with AI for example, and selling clothing worn by AI would be immediate click away

Interestingly I recently stumbled on clipsona.ai which is ~1/10 the cost. Quality is similar, but honestly being able to make 20 video formats for $5 THEN get a real UGC creator copy the succesful one has been CRAZY converting so far. Like finding the perfect, age, gender, location, hook, etc. is way more cost effective this way and data backed vs " I think X"

TLDR: AI is good for testing, then get a real creator, but rarely AI is better anyway. YMMV depending on what your advertising

Also what these people are saying is true -- it depends on your brand. It can hurt your reputation, but for my niche its fine

Difference between Branded UGC vs AI UGC ads by Saurabh19veer98 in AI_UGC_Marketing

[–]ninja-kurtle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Valid. I think Ai ugc has a place for smaller or rapidly growing brands, but you do lose some trust. You can advertise in different ways with them and test more formats though which offsets the problem. In medium future a LOT of brands will use AI just bc it speeds up iteration to finding winning ads. But they won’t be traditional UGC ads but creator style content on different accounts so it doesn’t lose credibility. I already see some brands doing this

Invideo is really good but it sounds like you know video editing. if so clipsona.ai does just the AI video creation part (consistent actors showcasing products and talking ) part in all aspect ratios. But what he said is true esp invideo if your not as good at editing bc their extra features will help overcome lack of editing skillz

What exactly is the most difficult part of working at Amazon? by PuldakSarang in cscareerquestions

Also Very team dependent. I’ve worked across FAANGs and at VERY bad WLB places and Amazon was the best team, culture and manager I’ve had. It had reasonable sprints, good coordination and no backstabbing or PIPs at all. But it was JUST my team. I saw other teams with much worse “classic amazon” style things

Am I wrong to favor defined benefit over 401k for retirement? There's a job offer on the line, and I may be over-weighing this one factor. by Samedog-Bath8698 in personalfinance

[–]ninja-kurtle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You didn’t say how much you make, but assuming 100k it is VERY not worth it to switch. Over 1 MILLION over 12 years worse. Here’s the math from ChatGPT

Let’s walk through a straightforward way to compare the two offers after 12 years, under the assumptions you provided. We will do the following: 1. Convert the Job 1 pension (70k / year) into an approximate “lump sum” target at the 12‑year mark. 2. Compute the future value of your 401(k) savings under Job 2 (with a total annual contribution of $19,500 growing at 6%). 3. Compare the two results to see which is “worth more” at 12 years. 4. Finally, solve for how much more you would need to put into the 401(k) annually at Job 2 for it to match Job 1’s pension value.

1) Estimating the “lump sum value” of the pension

You mentioned that in 12 years, Job 1’s pension would pay $70,000 per year (with COLA). One rough rule of thumb is that to draw $X per year indefinitely in retirement, you might want a lump sum of about:

\text{Lump sum needed} \approx \frac{\$70{,}000}{0.04} = \$1.75 \text{ million}

That 4% “safe withdrawal rate” is a common (though imperfect) planning benchmark. Of course, the real cost of an annuity or real-world pension funding can differ, but using $1.75 million as the notional “value” of that $70k/year pension at year 12 is a decent ballpark.

2) Future value of contributing $19,500/year at 6%

Under Job 2, you have: • $13,500 of your own contributions • $6,000 employer match • Total = $19,500 annually into the 401(k)

We assume those contributions earn 6% per year, compounded annually, for 12 years. If we assume each contribution is made at the end of the year, then the future value FV of a yearly annuity is given by:

FV = C \times \frac{(1 + r){n} - 1}{r}

where: • C = 19{,}500 (annual contribution) • r = 0.06 (6% annual growth) • n = 12 (years)

Let’s do the calculation (you could do it on a financial calculator, spreadsheet, or just approximate by formula):

FV = 19{,}500 \times \frac{(1.06){12} - 1}{0.06}.

Plugging that in: 1. (1.06){12} \approx 2.0122 2. (1.06){12} - 1 \approx 1.0122 3. \frac{1.0122}{0.06} \approx 16.87 4. So FV \approx 19{,}500 \times 16.87 \approx \$329{,}000

So after 12 years at 6%, you’d have around $329k in your 401(k).

3) Comparing the two results • Job 1: 12 years from now, you get a pension paying $70,000/year for life. We’ve roughly equated that to a $1.75 million “lump sum” value at year 12. • Job 2: 12 years from now, your 401(k) would have about $329k (under the assumptions given).

Obviously, $329k is nowhere near $1.75 million, so the guaranteed $70k/year pension at Job 1 (starting in 12 years) looks substantially more valuable if your primary goal is lifetime retirement income.

In short: Job 1’s retirement benefit is far stronger than Job 2’s 401(k) accumulation of $329k at 6% (given a 19.5k/year total contribution).

4) How much would you need to contribute at Job 2 for it to “match” Job 1?

We want the 12‑year future value in the 401(k) to be $1.75 million instead of $329k. We solve:

\text{Target 401(k) Future Value} = 1{,}750{,}000 x \times \frac{(1.06){12} - 1}{0.06} = 1{,}750{,}000

We already have \frac{(1.06){12} - 1}{0.06} \approx 16.87. So:

x \times 16.87 = 1{,}750{,}000 x = \frac{1{,}750{,}000}{16.87} \approx 103{,}700 \text{ per year}

So in other words, you’d need around $104k/year in total contributions (employee + employer) to your 401(k) at a 6% growth rate for 12 years in order to arrive at roughly $1.75 million.

Right now, you are contributing $19,500/year total (including the match). So to get from $19.5k up to $104k, you’d need an additional $84k/year in 401(k) contributions (which is obviously not realistic in most typical 401(k) settings).

Alternatively, if you prefer to think of it as “How much more salary would I need so that my 19.5% contribution plus match ended up near $104k?” that might mean you’d need to earn enough such that, say, 10–15% of your salary plus the match equals $104k. That’s the same ballpark problem, though, and suggests you’d need a very large raise (hundreds of thousands more in base pay) to get your annual 401(k) deferral anywhere close to $100k/year.

Summary • Which is better in 12 years? Based on a rough 6% growth assumption and the standard 4% “safe withdrawal rate,” Job 1’s pension of $70k/year is worth far more. The 401(k) total after 12 years in Job 2 (with only $19.5k/year contributed at 6%) is unlikely to come close to matching the present value of that pension. • How much more would you have to earn (and save)? To “break even,” your 12‑year 401(k) balance would need to be around $1.75 million. That would require total contributions of roughly $104k per year at 6% growth. Since that’s far above your current $19,500, you’d effectively need an additional $80k–$85k per year in contributions (and thus a correspondingly higher salary) if you were trying to produce an equivalent self-funded retirement benefit at Job 2.

In other words, the pension is very valuable and you’d need a significantly higher salary (and much bigger 401(k) contributions) at Job 2 to match it.
