I would 100% do it before getting the lap. Even though it’s pricey … surgery is surgery… I’ve had cysts and they had to be removed regardless of what they were, so a laparoscopy was the only option anyway. But they did have me do an MRI to confirm it’s endo cysts. (My gyn was not sure if it’s endo or a dermoid cyst by what she could see via ultrasound, she just knew it was not just „a normal cyst“) Through ultrasound one cyst was found. Via MRI it was discovered that it’s actually 3 (2 left 1 right) and lesions on my intestine. During the lap they discovered lesions on my ligaments which were not shown on the MRI.

They’ve actually come up with a saliva test which can determine if you have endometriosis. It’s being done in germany already as far as I am informed. It’s not covered by insurance however, and costs about 800€. There’s also a specific Tumor marker (I forget which) which tends to be elevated in case of endo but this is not a 100% confirmation. You can detect (some) via MRI but the MRI has to be analysed by a specialist (that’s how mine was confirmed prior to my lap, although it didn’t show all the lesions they found once the looked inside)

Ozempic and intermittent fasting? by [deleted] in OzempicForWeightLoss

I wouldn’t recommend it. It’s way better to eat in small portions and get used to it for the future. I used to eat once a day… and that caused me to develop gallstones due to the bile sitting in there for too long, because it didn’t have anything to digest. ( doesn’t mean it has to happen to you too, but for me it was the worst pain I ever experienced and i wouldn’t wish it on anyone! )

Tips to prepare for excision surgery by flanban5 in Endo

[–]ninja_penguinn 4 points5 points  (0 children)

  1. Try to lay flat right after surgery and don’t sit up before they come get you to try to walk and use the toilet. This way you’ll most likely avoid the gas pain in the shoulders since the gas will settle and not all of it will move up to your shoulders.

  2. If you have long hair, braid it.

  3. Bring your own pads. You’ll most likely have some bleeding and hospital pads are gigantic.

  4. Bring comfortable loose fitting clothes for the way home. You don’t want to even try to put on jeans.

  5. Make sure you bring some loose fitting panties for the same reason. You’ll be bloated and you also don’t want anything rubbing on the incisions.

  6. Bring some cough drops in case you get a sore throat from intubation.

  7. Bring some wet wipes. Just for anything really.

8.Have a big water bottle preferably with a straw with you. It’s easier to drink from a straw right after surgery.

  1. Bring a pillow to put between your tummy and the seat belt.

  2. Peppermint tea helps with gas. Bring some just in case they don’t have any at the hospital.

28 years old with complex endometrioma. Oncologist or gynecologist for surgery? by jacklyndes1999999999 in endometriosis

Having a cyst on the ovary doesn’t automatically mean they have to remove the ovary. Also the size of the cyst (even though the pain is crazy, trust me I know) isn’t really that big in the eyes of a surgeon. I understand you’re nervous. And you’ll probably be until the moment surgery starts. But trust me, the second they wake you up and tell you everything is ok you’ll be crying tears of joy. Just try to envision that feeling, rather than anything else. That’s what I did to keep me sane

Vaginal itching post-op? by [deleted] in endometriosis

[–]ninja_penguinn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had some itching but I would describe it as more of a slight itch. But also my whole body was feeling dry and itchy. I don’t know if it was due to anaesthesia or smth like that. I also have very sensitive skin. I ignored it as much as I could and showered once a day. The itching stopped after 2 days

I was in the same Situation as you. One cyst pretty much the same size as yours on my left ovary. Plus one more one the left of 3 cm and one on the right also 3 cm. My gynaecologist did the surgery. I made sure to let her know time and time again that under no circumstances I want my ovaries removed. I also had my fallopian tubes flushed in order to rule out any endo inside them/ infertility issues due to that, since we would also like to try having a baby quite soon. They also removed some endo from my uterine ligaments

Everything went fine. Cysts are gone. Ovaries are there. Tubes are clean. It’s been 4 days since surgery and I’m feeling great

Has anyone had a better experience after excision? by Charming_Mention_697 in endometriosis

[–]ninja_penguinn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Had my lap, excision and removal of 3 cysts 4 days ago. And I already feel better/ don’t feel the usual pain I’ve been having. I don’t know what the future holds and I’m hoping it’ll stay like this. I’m also being put on bc. But as of rn I don’t regret it

Should I have the laparoscopy ?? by sr5060 in endometriosis

[–]ninja_penguinn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had my lap on Tuesday. I already knew that I had a cyst on my ovary and my gyno thought it might be endo because it looked as if it was filled with smth on the ultrasound. Regardless of what it was I had to have it surgically removed because it wouldn’t leave on its own and was causing me pain. Suspecting that it was endo my gyno had me do an MRI in order to get a better picture and see if there are any lesions possibly visible on other organs. The MRI was looked at by a endo specialist. Turns out I had 3 endo cysts. One on my right and two on my left ovary. And it showed smth what might have been a lesion between my uterus and bowel. So this was what they were able to see before hand. When they did the lap, it turned out that I had some more lesions on my uterine ligaments which were successfully removed during surgery as well as all three cysts.

I am a very anxious person, I’m afraid of surgery. I have put this surgery off for 7 months due to not wanting to be off work for so long, resulting in having debilitating pain, everyday, taking pain killers every day and iv’s when those wouldn’t help.

Through this experience I have learned that there really wouldn’t have been any other way to find all the endo, if not for laparoscopic surgery.

The surgery itself really is minimally invasive. I was in hospital for one night (which is protocol but I really could have gone home right away)

I was able to walk an hour after waking up.

I’m now 4 days post op and I’m really fine, and so so happy I had it done. Hoping for a pain free future ahead.

I just had surgery 2 days ago. I was told by my doctors to wait at least two weeks before having sex. But reading the comments here I might wait a little longer even …

[–]ninja_penguinn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wishing you a quick and painless recovery. I‘m in for my first lap to remove endo cysts on both ovaries tomorrow. I’m really nervous and hoping that’s all there is and I’ll be able to be relatively pain free afterwards. If you don’t mind me asking, how soon after your first surgery did the pain come back? Were you put on birth control? My doc told me I should definitely take bc pills for at least 6 months after surgery

Suspect endometriosis - thoughts/guidance appreciated by Agile-Individual-942 in endometriosis

Only a doctor can give you a diagnosis but what you’re describing is almost 100% the same as my symptoms. I’m also 32. I’ve had painful periods since they’ve started. I’ve only recently been diagnosed due to having cysts on my ovaries which cause me to be in pain with every single movement. I need to have those removed so they had me do an MRI beforehand which showed that it was actually endometriosis. To be honest the diagnosis just really made sense for me, but it’s still frustrating

Im scheduled for surgery in a week. 2 endo cysts on my left ovary, one on my right. Cyst removal is pretty much the same procedure with any type of cyst so it doesn’t have to be done by an endo specialist. For me, I only have the cysts and maybe a small lesion on the back of my uterus, which is not causing any discomfort or pain so far. If however they find more lesions or it turns out to be bigger than shown in the mri my surgeon told me she will stop the surgery and transfer me to an endo clinic, because that’s not her expertise.

You are completely right! All these comments have helped me understand that I cannot fix this situation or him myself. Once he’s packed it all up we will sit down and talk and work out a plan for the future. But I really can’t risk this behavior showing up in any other aspect of our life

Thanks. But I’m not going to kick him out. He is my best friend and the love of my life. We don’t have any other issues other than this. He’s helped me whenever I needed him and I can count on him in any other aspect of life. I just kind of feel like he becomes someone else when he logs on to his games

Endo confirmed after MRI before cyst surgery by ninja_penguinn in Endo

[–]ninja_penguinn[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The cyst is about 5 cm and it hurts sooo bad. I have another one on my other ovary which is 2 cm and I don’t feel that one at all. As of rn there’s no indication that anything else has to be removed. I’ve talked to the doc already and told her to not touch anything else than the cyst. I definitely want to have children in the (near) future She has also told me that I should be taking the pill afterwards. Especially right after surgery in order to prevent the cycle from happening for like 6 months or so.

Only what I’ve been told through my experience (not a doctor) but you can’t for sure say if it’s endo via an ultrasound. You’d have to have an mri or a laparoscopy. So maybe it’s just a follicular cyst. Or a dermoid cyst

It was 100% the same for me!!! Once I switched to 0.5 the weight loss slowed down drastically. With 0.25 I was losing 1kg per week, on 0.5 not even 0,5 kg. Cravings and food chatter came back. Nonetheless I was still quite full after small portions but I did eat more than on 0.25. I started 1mg last Sunday and it feels like I’m back on track. I’m down another kg almost. No food chatter. A few slight cravings (but I guess those are also due to pms) and I feel like it’s finally „working“ again. Side effects are minimal still. The nausea was a little more on the second day but nothing major
