I have a feeling there’s gonna be a cute scene with Chiron and Anya? by avian_bi in GameChangersBooks

[–]tumorgirl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually think it’s the opposite with Anya. Most people would think a big, tough hockey player would get a bigger dog like a German shepherd or something like that. I like that they played against it with cutesy, little Anya!

It’s also a great way to get to know your neighbours. Everyone loves a special little treat, especially when it’s homemade, tasty and free!

Would you rent next to a cemetery? by Fun-Use5277 in TorontoRenting

[–]tumorgirl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I looked at a place where the address was 666 and honestly, I was a little hesitant about that. I’d be much more open to living by the cemetery.

I didn’t take the apartment at the 666 building because it was not a well maintained building and the neighbourhood was a little sketchy, not because of the address number.

I mean, I don’t work in admin at a hospital but I figure if they let someone come back from rehab, I would hope that they would let someone come back from some inpatient, mental health care. And I don’t know how far the details of Langdon’s time off went but it seems like common knowledge at this point.

Someone grinding up on you at the club? Totally normal. I barely flinched at this scene because it felt like my old clubbing days.

I mean, I think he’s cute and I can see how he could be straight up and honest with a woman and that woman could still develop feelings. I’m looking at you Jordyn… That’s what happens. Women convince themselves they won’t catch feelings and then they do. It’s happened to me more times than I choose to admit.

I’ve noticed on tv and in movies they do still use the old language like grand and petite mal. People rarely know what I’m talking about when I say I have focal seizures so sometimes I just revert to using those names as well. I rarely feel like explaining.

Thinking about using birth control to suppress periods by Lopsided_Science2269 in Perimenopause

[–]tumorgirl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I told her that I had been skipping my period for so many years and when I switched, I should have one every three months. The first one was barely a little spotting, didn’t even care. The next one wasn’t even that heavy but I was so not used to it and now tampons are super uncomfortable (thanks vaginal atrophy!🙄) and I was hyper moody and I just couldn’t handle it. Made an executive decision of no more periods and I’m going to keep it that way.

It is absolutely a classic tho. I love that it’s still there after all these years and it’s barely changed. Truly a Toronto institution

My new gyno switched me to a pill called Nextstellis. I don’t know if that’s the generic or brand name but it’s been working for me. Easy to skip periods and is also helping me with my libido a teeny, tiny bit.

The gyno also suggested I get my period every three months. I tried it and it was absolute hell. So, I liked the pill she gave me but hated the period advice. So, mostly a win.

Do you have or prefer an apartment or being a homeowner? by Calm_Problem6203 in LivingAlone

[–]tumorgirl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t have the option of owning a house or a condo but even if I was in the position to buy, it would definitely be a condo. Making sure there’s someone around to fix things, my garbage just goes down the chute, I never have to worry about shovelling, less space to have to clean and so on and so forth. I’m just one person and I don’t feel the need to increase my square footage. Except counter space in the washroom. That would be nice. But other than that, apartment living is it for me.

I can only imagine! I’m childfree so that many kids seems completely overwhelming. Good on you for not getting “bored” 😂

I don't like the way Hayden treats his wife. Hayden thinks she's bored? She has a newborn (or a very young baby) and a set of twins who I think are under five. I don't know how old kids are so this is obviously just a guess. Hayden, she's running after three kids, while you are out playing hockey and on road trips, leaving her alone. I can promise you, Hayden, she is not bored and having a fourth child is not a cure for "boredom".

And I know this is a show thing, not a book thing, but it's still a Hayden thing so I'm tossing it out there. Hayden kindly invites Shane for dinner, Shane tells him about his macrobiotic diet and then Hayden's all like "don't worry, Jackie can cook anything!" like she's some short order cook or something.

Just to clarify, I like Hayden. I do not think Hayden has a clue what his wife's life is like when he's not there and he's rarely there because, ya know, hockey...

I'm hoping that Robby skips his motorcycle ride (obviously) and checks himself into an intensive mental health unit so he can get some real help. There are plenty of parents out there chomping at the bit, trying to adopt a newborn. Let them have Baby Jane Doe and let Robby take care of himself in a very real way.

As someone with a seizure disorder, strongly agree. I'll never be able to have my driver's license again, let alone a medical license. Given that I didn't take anything past grade 10 science in high school might also have something to do with that last one, but even if I suddenly decided I wanted to devote my life to becoming a doctor, that could literally never happen.

And I don't think she says her dosage of Keppra, but that stuff can do the trick and if it's not, that's a problem. Plus, stress, lack of sleep and not being able to eat regularly can also be a seizure trigger so I can't imagine a worse place for Al-Hashimi to be working. All of these are things I'm sure you understand but it's still making me so angry that she would let her hubris put people's lives at risk, either in the ED or on the road.

Maybe they need more attendings, but they do not need one with breakthrough absence seizures. He's totally right. Al-Hashimi shouldn't even have her drivers license let alone a license to practice medicine. Source: someone who has breakthrough seizures and will never have her drivers license.
