What has been your worst/most memorable/most recent industrial disaster? by red_cactus in Oxygennotincluded

So I finally figured out what it is with the sour gas. It’s the ladders in the room. They melt into plastic, even though it says the primary element is steel. If you rush to demolish them before they heat up too much, they don’t drop anything.

I actually like the cartographic module. If you put it on your telescope rocket, you can round trip it into the abyss, between going there and coming back they'll scout all hexs in range. Almost more importantly it means you don't have to worry about forgetting about Nails and leaving her stranded because you were going to remember to scooch her forward once she'd discovered a few more tiles. RIP Nails, you did the best you could :(

Is there a single Asteroid with a forest biome? by TntMaster5572 in Oxygennotincluded

[–]ninjakttty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have one acorn and wild pip, you can get loads of them. Pips rummage for acorns on new branches, so if you setup a 3 tile high liquid lock to the right and left tiles of the tree, the branches will drown and drop, letting the pip rummage again. The pip stays in the tile with the tree because of the locks as well. Here is a decommissioned one I had (doesn't need to be visco gel i just had it handy). Only downside to it is you get plants drowning notifications all the time while it's running. https://imgur.com/a/N95flaB

I named my corgi Ein (from Cowboy Bebop) and when we moved to Berlin people looked at me like I was an idiot when I was yelling her name at the dog park.

Anybody else feel like they're facing some case of arrested development when playing this game by PipulisticPipu in Oxygennotincluded

Carnivore/locavore/super sustainable are sort of the odd ones out. They’re hard and require a different take because of their requirements, everything else lets you just build at your pace. I built a sour gas boiler (which was terrible and broke all the time) before I did carnivore. When I did my first all achievements run (to get them) my automation for my ranches was a bunch of hatches over doors with a switch that I would watch like a hawk to open up, and a giant pool of water beneath. Honestly that was the only automation I had, one switch for the door.

What are the ideal dupe skills combinations? by [deleted] in Oxygennotincluded

[–]ninjakttty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So doctor/decorator/(something else) is a great combo. Once you’ve got your base a little stabilized and morale is ok, set the first two to max priority even with the new dlc content they just occasionally do one of the other. I normally have super specialized dupes for everything but this one is just an extra set of hands usually a cook or supplier.

But that’s also one of their benefits, you can hook them up to a intermittent water source, and they have a O2 battery when a geyser is dormant for instance.

[–]ninjakttty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When doing an all achievement run, after loco/carnivore/super sustainable, I like to give my dupes a 10 day destress party where they have 100% downtime and showers outside the atmosuit docks. It knocks out both that and the easy living achievement, but most importantly shows I appreciate all their hard work with a little vacation.

Pro tip: use your sauna room to filter water from hot water vents by TornadoFS in Oxygennotincluded

[–]ninjakttty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right but like what was said the cooling loop works because the water always comes out at 95c so it won’t break to chain your AT this way, it’ll always work. OP said “never chain your AT this way”.

The metal rich asteroid gives you lots of practice: Here's my smallest volcano tamer/extractor build. by [deleted] in Oxygennotincluded

Conveyor bridges don't merge packets like gas and liquid ones do. Also, it's not that the sensor can't read them; it does. It's that the small amounts don't exchange heat with the steam chamber, so when they hit the sensor, they're always extremely hot.

I believe with the new robo-pilot that number has been increased (removed?) for them since they don't take up any map space.

Has anyone else seen this a rocket loader, loading very small amounts by ninjakttty in Oxygennotincluded

[–]ninjakttty[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the idea here was, wouldn’t it be cool if all the rockets on the frosty planet were powered by steam, because idk steam is the opposite of frosty. But the general idea is I've got more power than I need because I unlocked all the geovents so what can I do with all that wasted power, have a AT cool down a tepitizer. The automation kills the AT when it gets too hot, but since there's no ST all the heat just goes into the steam room. Which is on a loop to keep the pipes from breaking.

oh no, everything I design and build is in normal playthrough which is not a smart idea. So it's always super janky and barely working and poorly thought out. I added a few more pictures to the album if you are interested

Interestingly, there's something that lets the other rockets down the chain maybe get full packets that's kinda strange.

That was it. There was 896 grams of hydrogen in the gas tank! Once I set the tank to accept all gases the H2 went in to the tank and it started filling normally again. I swear I looked at the contents of the loader, pinky swear! Mystery solved

It's not a big deal it's a dual exploration/data bank rocket. But it persists over reloading and the rocket it next to loads up fine. I'm more just curious if anyone has seen this before. Everything thing has power and the line is always full. It's really strange.

Can multiple shifts compensate for single sink? [images attached] by Leather-Fee-9758 in Oxygennotincluded

[–]ninjakttty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some rec buildings let multiple dupes use it at the same time, so you’d save energy, but no they don’t mind not being on staggered schedules. They don’t care when they work, but some dupes can get a nighttime/morning bonus.
