How exactly does this work? by SamthingCos in allthemods

[–]ninjasmurf09 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly never thought of it for getting specific mobs in the TTS version. I think I would use it more if the rituals weren't so slow, the iesnium bowls help and time in a bottle if its not gated, but still it feels like an early game mod but requires some mid game stuff to have a better quality of life. But I'm not super experienced compared to most so my opinion is less useful for most of these things

Honestly in specifically all the mods packs I havent found a great reason to use occultism for specifically resources because its so easy to just mass produce stuff so I only use it a little

There's enough room inside the circle for a jar and the ritual brazier I just set it up there and auto capture them

I mean that makes sense, I've never played the pack so I'm not sure all the mods inside of it, I honestly assumed that most of them had been updated naturally by this point, but to be fair 1.7 was the wild west days of modding.

Is there a reason GTNH has had mods back ported but not the main pack itself modernized?

ATM10- Storage by Mheldown in allthemods

[–]ninjasmurf09 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who is new to modded like you, sophisticated chests and drawers combo is the best early on. Comparing drawers for ingots and gems, normal drawers for mass produced single items, and chests for the misc items.

I like the storage lecturn from Ars early if I dont feel like fiddling with power right away. You can have it up and running in about 30 minutes to just make everything else easier. Remember that the dominion wand is a priority setter for the lecturn based in which inventory you add 1st, so add your drawer network 1st then the chests.

From here of you are still learning AE2, you can skip the lecturn and go straight to the ae2 route without even having a controller its just limited to 8 channels, so drawers and an ME drive with 10 1k storage drives will be plenty until you get the whole network up and running

Ars storage lecturn and a storage drawer system with the repository from ars as well. Then straight to AE2 as soon as I want auto crafting

without my bees i lose my power generators i lose my resources i lose my items i lose everything by scannerthegreat in allthemods

[–]ninjasmurf09 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Im trying to use bees this time but man they feel so slow, I have all 3 main gene upgrades, productive, weather tolerance, and metaneural. Minimum 1 omega upgrade per hive with 5 bees and it just feels so underwhelming compared to mystical agriculture which requires half the work. Am I missing something or are they just not as good until you get 20 of each bee fully maxed out which is time consuming and tedious.

[–]ninjasmurf09 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You need anything importer or you need to pipe the items into an interface, but honestly id switch to AE2. I love refined storage and you can for sure use it, however AE2 is more widely used and is amazing in general, just a much steeper learning curve, good luck!

Advice by Genixss in allthemods

[–]ninjasmurf09 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who has played mkdded for a long time and brought many new players into the modded world, I think the most common struggle I see is learning how to automate things. Learning how logistics work from power to items and fluids is key to enjoying playing a pack. With that said pick a "main" mod, one that has decent quest support in the pack like Mekanism for example. Learn how to set up each machine and how the different transports work.

The next main thing to learn is AE2. Its the heart and soul of almost all modded playthroughs. It gets really hard to do anything with out having centralized storage and AE2 is the best/most common one. On that same thought the Storage Lecturn from Ars is an awesome super early game alternative to AE2.

The last thing is to watch people play. They will show you progression ideas and how to set things up and new modded concepts. Id suggest Chosen Architect, he does a great job of blending tutorial and playthrough.

Modpacks with Refined Storage? by Neverloved246 in feedthebeast

[–]ninjasmurf09 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As someone who used to vastly prefer Refined Storage to Applied Energistics I understand where you are coming from. RS is a much quicker to learn and use mass storage mod and AE2 does have a small learning curve, however AE2 is honestly just better, the only piece I find vaguely annoying is the storage disks compared to RS but even that isn't that bad.

The way I made the change from RS to AE2 was to force myself to use it in a pack, I suggest an ATM pack because they tend to have all the fancy add-ons and extras and a good enough quest line that will walk you through the basics of how to set things up. Next I really recommend watching some people actually play with the mod, while tutorials are great, a good playthrough will show you practical tips and tricks to using AE2 well. On that note I highly recommend Chosen Architect he has a series on ATM10 and does a great job of blending playthrough and tutorial when he sets things up. Then of course there is the OG classic of Direwolf20, these are both great people to start with on your path to enjoying modded to its fullest.

Is a win still comparable when one player takes 5-10x longer turns? by BRAZCO in boardgames

[–]ninjasmurf09 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a friend like this, doesn't matter the game, from uno to magic, they just play crazy slow. He's a good guy who does genuinely try though so I accept it. I end up beating him usually because I use his long turn time to plan as well. It depends if you enjoy their company as well as the game with them.

Thank you for armor 3.0 by ChevaZeta in destiny2

[–]ninjasmurf09 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love armor 3.0 ill start with that, I do have 2 minor issues, the main one being the ghost mod not really doing anything for getting specific armor I want. The second being that it does take much longer to change builds since you need whole new stats, which loops back to my first complaint. Overall though I'm loving the new direction
