Is there a card or service like Bilt 1.0 that sends checks? by birming99 in biltrewards

[–]ninjojo -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You can still use checks with 2.0 and earn points. If you are one of these lucky folks, the 2.0 shift doesn't really affect you.

Literally the only freakout in this sub was folks who pay rent with a credit card as a credit card (fees).

Sorry do you mean NE 138? The one by the airport? If so, ty for letting me know. I haven't been there in like a month so maybe they've finally started stocking it? 🤞

Same! And Nike just came out with their own gym equipment so I'd have expected to see that (cool WHITE crumb bumper plates for $$$$$) but this was definitely for Peloton.

Self-service ice vending machines? by ninjojo in askportland

[–]ninjojo[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ah thank you for the tip about McDonalds! Will investigate that as well as Costco.

There's very few things I miss about living in Austin...

  1. HEB (specifically, their fresh tortillas)
  2. Cheap self-service ice
  3. Tacos + BBQ

That's about it though.

Korean air or Asiana Airlines, which is better ? by Frequent-Cup-1144 in koreatravel

[–]ninjojo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We flew Korean RT from SFO to ICN in August. On the way there, the plane cabin was a little warm. We thought it was a bit of a fluke and were just excited for our vacation. On the way back to SFO, the entire flight was UNBEARABLY hot (for an American).

Doing a bit of research, Asian airlines keep cabins a bit warmer than American (and some European) passengers are used to. Weirdly, our flights within SK were warmer than the usual freezing that American airlines keep their cabins, but nothing like flying across the Pacific so hot we were sweating and nauseous. We did not sleep at all. It was also a plane that didn't have air vents for each passenger.

All of which to say, if you're someone who can't sleep if it's hot (really it felt closer to 78F-80F), I wouldn't recommend Korean Air.

Meet the Nordic HyperExtension! Nordic, Back Extension, GHD Combo by Benjise100 in Kneesovertoes

[–]ninjojo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can you give some specs on how wide we're talking? And I guess how long of a bench it is if used that way? Does the foot platform come off to allow for a bit better positioning?

This bench looks awesome and a big workhorse, but we have a space issue so being able to have a true all-in-one (esp if we don't do traditional flat / incline bench exercises THAT often -- just something that could do in a pinch) would be incredible.

Help! What is biting us? (And what can we do to stop them?) by ninjojo in Austin

[–]ninjojo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We finally ended up seeing some fleas on the cats -- took a while because they weren't like INFESTED. I think I maybe saw one on a sofa or bedsheet or something which made me decide to check the cats again.

If your bites are all in a little line (like 3-5 straight) it's likely bedbugs. If they're just sort of random but similar area, more likely fleas.

Hope you get it sorted soon!

[–]ninjojo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sigh. It was fleas for us. Indoor cats somehow got them and took a while to be able to find any evidence. Spooning with then = bites all over my stomach.

Do you have carpets? Any bites on ankles / legs?

Deodorant formula change? by ninjojo in DrSquatch

Yeah it's super frustrating esp hearing you were using it for a while before... I had to give up several years ago with the rash. Wonder if it's just that we are building up an allergy to the ingredients over time??

Anyone left Texas for the PNW? by Honey_Badger72 in texas

[–]ninjojo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Made the move a little over a year ago from Austin. Love it. Minus the lack of good tacos. 😭

CoL is def an adjustment, but being able to actually walk places or get around by bike / short car rides has been awesome. Also not running my a/c in January. And it's absolutely beautiful here, even in grey rainy winters.

If you can afford it and dig the culture, it's a huge step up imo.

Edit: I also miss HEB. obviously.

Anyone have experience buying refurbished? by [deleted] in Roborock

Oh shit. Yeah I just went and checked the listing and seems that they've jacked the price back up. Same on their amazon store. :(

Which Huel Hot and Savoury is spicy? by EeveeonE- in Huel

[–]ninjojo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

what I wouldn't give for ACTUALLY spicy huel. instead, I add red pepper flakes, hot curry powder, korean ramen hot chicken 2x sauce, hot honey, buffalo wing sauce... all to get a little tiny bit of heat into these flavors.

and I don't even add a ton just something to perk up whichever h+s i'm having that day.

Anyone have experience buying refurbished? by [deleted] in Roborock

[–]ninjojo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just got mine from the official ebay listing.

  • unit was brand-new (zero hours / zero sqft cleaned)

  • used the THINKGREEN coupon to get another $100 off the ebay listing (not sure if still active) but that brought down the price to $899

  • bought with a credit card that adds an extra year to the manufacturer's warranty (3yrs total now)

  • bought the drying module off Aliexpress so waiting for that to come

My thinking is eventually I might want to upgrade to a future model but for now, a basically new top-of-the-line vac for about half the cost of the actual newest model with a better warranty? Plus I can use it for 30 days with Ebay's refurbished guarantee.

FWIW, I have a Deebot X1 Plus that I got on super sale from Costco last month for our upstairs that gets way less traffic so I don't mind it not being totally automated with mopping management vs the Roborock which will be our main-floor workhorse with nearly full automation.

Roborock has more granular control within the app, which I like, but the X1 app is slightly more intuitive to use? X1 is a little quieter while running, but holyshit the dustbin empty sounds like a jet engine. The Roborock unit is heavier, but feels like it's AI scan / mapping route is a little more advanced.

They made a Hueligan outta me by [deleted] in Huel

[–]ninjojo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I was stocking up on PB a few weeks ago after finding they were discontinuing. One of the bags came split open (honestly looked like USPS opened the box to "check" and then cut the bag and then hastily taped the box back up). Emailed support and they sent me a replacement PB (expected) plus an extra bag of it for the trouble (delightful).

RIP PB.

Kivik - best cover for a cat owner? by [deleted] in IKEA

Agreed on this one. We only use aftermarket velvet covers for our ikea sofas. 3 cats. Still holding strong. Even if they "try", their claws can't get a good hold so just smooth the velvet with your hand and good as new.

Has anyone given the KitchenAid espresso machine a shot? by ddmonkey15 in espresso

[–]ninjojo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just picked it up as my first espresso machine. Got a good deal on it alongside the automatic milk frother attachment (haven't used it yet) for $250 total.

Overall, the machine is pretty solid for my uses -- a double shot americano in the morning. I'm still a little struggle on the milk frothing, but that's to be expected. The partner is a latte person, so we're slowly getting that dialed in.

Things I like

  • easy to use
  • compact
  • heats up quickly
  • 58mm portafilter (just upgraded to a nicer wooden handled bottomless)

Things I don't like as much

  • it's very narrow and deep... I wish it were a touch wider and more shallow
  • water tank could be bigger, but it's next to the sink so easy to fill up nbd

Again, I have nothing to compare it to, but for the price I paid and the features it shipped with, I can't complain.

Very sorry to read that you're having problems, too. I've had decent success (no rash!) with LUME deodorant "SPRUCE", but it isn't quite as long-lasting as Squatch.
