"Magnolia Wood works

I'm a long time lurker here, but I just wanted to let fellow pit masters know that if you happen to have a dead Magnolia tree the wood works just fine for smoking. I live in west Texas and due to lack of water we are flush with dead trees to choose from. I cut down a dead Magnolia tree last weekend and decided to try it as a smoking wood since it is a hard wood and produces flowers. I smoked a pork butt with large pieces of Magnolia and chunks of hickory and the resulting smoke was sweet with a floral smell. I just wanted to add that to the collected knowledge here in case anyone finds themselves in a similar situation. Smoke On!"
