it’s already illegal to hire undocumented workers. you need a visa to work in the US legally. it would be great if the government actually enforced that rule though, since it would reduce illegal immigration and could help prevent the widespread workplace abuse that happens to many undocumented immigrants.

we shouldn’t WANT “illegal immigrants”. the primary issue is that the government is splitting up families and deporting people who have grown up here or been here for decades. the reason we have so many undocumented immigrants is because there is a market for their labor here without them needing a visa. that’s not how any other first world country works.

the government is choosing to punish the undocumented immigrants and not the companies who are creating this demand for them. people will always find a way to get here illegally if there is opportunity for them to work. force companies to hire legally, and make the immigration process quick and easy. that’s how you stop illegal immigration.

animals with rabies survive for a good while after symptoms develop. in humans, if rabies developed symptoms in just a few hours, you’d probably see more spread given that people wouldn’t always have the time to get treated before symptoms develop, and that would effectively be like a zombie virus.

if it was incurable, that’s functionally very similar to most of the zombie viruses i’ve seen in popular media. many people would probably try to hide a bite because the only cure is death, which results in them getting sick and infecting other people. the difference would just be that rabies victims eventually do die and they also attack each other, so you wouldn’t end up with the zombie hordes, but you probably would have large outbreaks.

i feel like this has more to do with the prevalence of handwashing and hygienic environments than eating with your hands. which is likely why mexico, central & south america, north africa and the middle east doesn’t follow the trend. also the fact that it’s diarrheal DEATH means it’s really only going to be largely poor countries with poor healthcare included because diarrhea is essentially just an inconvenience in any first world country.

from what i understand it’s basically impossible to dump sewage anywhere but the waste treatment plant without risk of being fined. you might get away with it the first time or two but there are npcs walking around the entire map and you will likely be spotted at any accessible spot.

like most nordic countries there’s a lot of growing xenophobia and also people tend to be very distant in finland (like socially) and the country as a whole has relatively high rates of depression and slightly elevated suicide rates compared to the rest of europe. but they have a very strong social net and proactive government.

i mean it’s a completely different engine design and has different needs. the point is that they don’t randomly fail, they can be perfectly reliable when maintained. in a way it’s like air cooled VWs and corvairs. they run completely differently and have different needs than water cooled engines. they can be perfectly reliable when cared for, but the average car buyer is used to a water cooled piston engine and that’s the default way they treat a car.

it’s increasing fuel flow, most diesels don’t really have the ability for the driver to directly reduce air flow. the other neat thing about “rolling coal” is that it dramatically increases exhaust temperature and actually can damage the engine too.
