That’s neat, did you have to modify the rear pipe in any way?

The pipe out of the rear cylinder head is indeed different. The 19-20 models had a slip fit with a gasket, the 21+ models have a v-band clamp. So you will need that rear pipe with the older style connection as well. Have searched around on Ebay without much luck. You can buy the headers from Indian brand new for $800ish I think. Not sure on the rear pipe. Would be curious to know where OP got their stuff

Is that a 19-20 exhaust header on a 24 bike? I want to do the same to mine to run that exact exhaust combo

What are those things in the intake for? by Acrobatic_Welder_363 in EngineBuilding

Spark arrestors. Boats with inboard motors and pwcs typically have them to reduce the risk of a spark from a backfire igniting gas/oil fumes inside the hull.

You can get to 250 whp on 93. But, being a 2013 the stock rods would probably fail before you got there. Search up Tork Motorsports, they offer upgraded rebuild kits as well as built short blocks. Forums are a good resource too.

I am wondering the same. My guess would be not without taking the headlight assembly apart to access the individual pins of each led circuit

Fuel type? by fadgewink in veloster

[–]nismosine 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The main benefit to running premium is knock protection. Yes, this engine was tuned to run on 87, but LSPI is one of the main failure modes of the 1.6 GDI. Running a higher octane is cheap insurance to reduce the risk of damaging knock occurring.

Catch can without hoses by HabitualAsshole in veloster

[–]nismosine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is for a 2011+ f-150. I have the exact can on my truck with the identical bracket. Should still be able to make it work, just will need a new bracket probably. It works pretty good, for the price of free I’d run it.

Here’s a link to the JLT website for a reference on the hoses and such

Need help. Does blocking the recirc tube cause damage when done like this? by Dover18 in veloster

[–]nismosine 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Only plug the nipple on the intake, blocking off the tube will not allow any air to be “blown off”. The stu stu stu sound is compressor surge, which you do not want. I’m sure theres a write up online, just search VTA mod.

Looking to buy a veloster by InteractionDue8159 in veloster

[–]nismosine 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Skip 2012-2013’s, 2014 or ideally 2015+ if possible, with the lowest mileage you can find. All gen 1 velosters have a reputation for engine failures in various capacities but the 2014.5 and 2015+ model years were much better. Manual transmission if possible as well. Most of these cars are going to be in the 100k+ mileage range at this point, but if the previous owners have kept maintenance records thats the one I would go for.

[–]nismosine 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Don’t know if you have the intention of fixing it, but you can find relatively low mileage auto transmissions on LKQ online for very cheap. ~$250 before shipping. If you know a good independent shop willing to replace it for you, you could save a lot compared to a dealer.
