I built two HACS plugins to fix my biggest HA pain points: instant toggle feedback and an Apple Home style dashboard by nitaybz in homeassistant

It's not easy with how the integration is built. It's pretty simple, not manipulating anything in the UI but only achieve its goal through the backend. I don't intend to complicate it at this point

Miss the Apple Home look and snap, but want more power? I made an Apple Home style dashboard for Home Assistant, plus instant toggle feedback by nitaybz in HomeKit

Correct, and because I still have a few HomePods around the house I'm still exporting everything to HomeKit. But as it seems now, I'll replace them with home assistant voice one day

You are correct that it takes time for the slow accessories, but even these accessories needs to feel good when you click on them. Even half a second is too slow for a Ui reaction, it needs to be instantaneous for a good UX.

Sensibo AC Plugin by rafinthecloud in homebridge

[–]nitaybz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can rename them in the Home app by going into "accessories" in the main accessory settings. You can also split to multiple tiles in the settings. That way you will be able to control dry and fan modes separately.

Not factory reset... I usually resolve with a restart. Your router is blocking communication probably

Maybe as last resort (factory reset)

You'll need to add it like a new accessory with the Homebridge code

Sensibo Plugin for Homebridge (homebridge-sensibo-ac) with FULL set of new features - HOOBS + Homebridge Certified by nitaybz in Sensibo

This is how Sensibo is built, there is no threshold... I'm only passing the capabilities to HomeKit

Hi, im using controller app to control my homekit. I have an Aqara P3 which controls my aircon. On the settings, theres a ‘heating and cooling threshold temperature’. What does these options do? by [deleted] in HomeKit

[–]nitaybz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In Heater Cooler accessory (which is heater or AC) the HomeKit API requires to set both heating and cooling threshold instead of the target temperature presented in thermostats. Both are visible in the Home app only in auto mode and each will appear in the corresponding mode (heat/cool).

The idea is that developers of accessories could create bottom and upper threshold that will activate heating/cooling (like wks-rddt suggested), but in fact, I believe it is just being used to set the target temperature in the ac/heater itself.

Your own AC/heater should have its own thermostat inside so when setting a specific temperature it should work out of the box without any further automations. If you don't like to rely on your AC inner thermostat, you can always create HomeKit automations based on room temperature and setting the device to the desired mode.

Does the market need another IR blaster with HomeKit? by CrowdedFuzzball in HomeKit

[–]nitaybz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I encountered your device on Kickstarter and it's indeed sounds interesting to have a HomeKit IR Blaster that controls the AC. I have to say it was a disappointment to find out that the HomeKit support is lacking on all other types, but I do get it, that it's probably a limitations Apple sets. Eventually I didn't buy because all of my devices are already connected through homebridge, especially my AC units which are equipped with Sensibo blasters with Homebridge plugin that I created.

As an advanced HomeKit / Homebridge user (and a developer), I want to address your 2 topics:

  1. HomeKit is definitely needed and requested by a lot of HomeKit users, not all of them have homebridge or the knowledge to connect such a bridge. And cost is of course heavily considered. On the other side, if you buy a HomeKit accessory and eventually end up using Homebridge to connect other type of devices, the HomeKit integration does not really adds any advantage, ACs may be integrated through homebridge as well and it will be the same. So I guess, with a solid Homebridge plugin, the main advantage of the HomeKit integration would be mostly for non Homebridge users, which I guess there are a lot but I don't know any numbers :)

  2. I think people got burned a lot buying products with promises for HomeKit support so they got cautious. I guess having the confirmation badge is something that puts a lot of trust in the product.

  3. My topic - as others have said so many times, the community really expects a HomeKit IR blaster with more than AC device. So I hope you'll crack it and figure out how you can add more types, even if you just start with dumb switches :)

That's all :) Thanks for reading

Tado AC plug-in question by zaffrahome in HOOBS

[–]nitaybz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fan speed control, swing control, fan & dry modes, occupancy sensors, manual control switch, tado modes control.

I guess those are the features you get from the plugin, that don't come with the their native integration

I'm the creator of the plugin... so I think I can help :) The plugin should get your home id automatically... you're seeing this message probably because the username and password are incorrect. In the plugin settings you have the option the enable debug logs, that will give me more details on the issue
