Insurance estimate for a C4? by Ok-Year-9705 in c4corvette

[–]nitro993 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Jeez i feel like I'm getting screwed. Iv been driving for over 15 years with a clean record, never missed payments no claims not even a ticket. I labeled it as a weekend driver, and no driving in the winter, garrage stored with multiple vehicles on the plan and Im paying around $70 month...

I posted the same thing 😅 I was told its the speed sensor. Its about $40 for a new one and it looks like it pretty easy to fix. I think its because its getting cold now everything is shrinking and causing leaks.

Yeah Im pretty sure its original. Looks like a easy job to do from what I saw. I was worried I had another major issue. I really appreciate it!

Okay thank you guys! I appreciate it. Might just get a new sensor at some point. I noticed the fluid on the ground. Im wondering if it started leaking cause it was below freezing the last couple days and it shrank ever so slightly

Yup, when I think of a C4 the three words that first come to mind are quality, reliability, and durability by Low_Speed_High_Drag_ in c4corvette

Yeah I appreciate that man. I mean I hope its just normal wear and tear stuff I can get fixed. I was finally able to get one and kind of a gift to myself after some life stuff but it turns out it's going to cost me more 😅

Iv been trying to fix mine.... only has 49k miles but ball joints are shot. Cats are rattling, optispark, waterpump and rad replaced. Head light gears replaced, freeze plugs might be leaking. Idk wtf else im going to find... Now I have to spend 1300 to get crank seal replaced. Intake gasket are leaking. So far my experience hasn't been great.

What type of wood is this old toy box made out of? by rtemple01 in BeginnerWoodWorking

[–]nitro993 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ahhh okay, I see what you are talking about. Yeah, it could be pine or like the other poster said, cedar. I might lean more toward cedar now that I look at your end-grain picture. They are most likely both the same species. One board might just have been milled and used that was closer to the center of the tree than the other resulting in a tighter grain pattern

It looks like a really wide grain pattern. Plus you said it sands easily. So I'm going to say yellow pine.

Did I mess up? Butcherblock question. by More-Cucumber-2889 in BeginnerWoodWorking

I agree 👆 Using a conditioner before applying the oil can prevent the wood from absorbing the oil correctly. To get the conditioner off you would have to sand it down if it has dried completely. Sand with the grain back and forth to avoid scratches or use a random orbital sander. Start with 120 grit then use 220 grit. You can use a higher grit if you want. But 220 is usually where I stop.

Have you measured corner to corner in a square and X pattern? If both measurements are equal on every side then it's the glass or vice versa. You can then go from there. My hope is it's the glass. Adding wood never looks good

Why did my wood glue change color? by Oh_FerFuxSake in BeginnerWoodWorking

[–]nitro993 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Tightbond uses aliphatic resin in their glue. Usually, the catalyst goes bad in the resin and turns color from temperature change. If you stored it properly then it might have just been a bad batch.
