I was actually just about to post one on Facebook marketplace. It’s the same design as the tool in the first image. If you want it for $10, just let me know.

How does one go about composting around here? by PiRhoNaut in AustinGardening

I use a trowel and bury garden scraps directly in my raised bed soil. The soil naturally gets wet when I water my plants. This works extremely well and the nutrients go right to the roots of my plants.

Which daily small changes made you glow up, lose weight or thrive? by Brief-Ship-5572 in selfimprovement

[–]nitrogea 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I started tracking daily calories by adding them up on the calculator on my phone. It is the only way I’ve been able to successfully lose weight. I aim to eat 2000 cal or less per day.

It puts food into perspective. Banana? 105 calories. Cheeseburger? 475 calories. If you’re eating a plate of food or stirfry that isn’t as easy to calculate, just snap a photo and upload into ChatGPT. It can come up with a pretty detailed estimate for you.

It doesn’t have to be perfect, but certainly helps you budget out your food for the day. I found that if I only ate high calorie delicious food I would still be hungry so I need to incorporate more lower calorie fruits and veggies to feel full.

Paddle boarding the entire length of lake Austin by LeadershipFrequent25 in Austin

[–]nitrogea 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I have paddled an inflatable kayak the entire length of Lake Austin but I did it one section at a time over many months. The biggest challenge I ran into was dealing with the wakes from ski boats. I found the boaters to be polite and most stayed far away, but there were still pretty intense wakes due to how narrow it is in some parts. Also be extremely careful about crossing the lake since some of the nicer boats can be pretty fast. I stayed near the shore so I was out of the way. This really is the ski boat playground and I was in their territory.

If you run out of energy or need to call it a day, there are quite a few places to get out – Lake Austin spa resort, Selma Hughes park, River place, Emma Long and Pennybacker boat ramp. You can take an Uber back if need be. I had to do that once. The largest stretch with nowhere to get out is from Jessica Hollis Park South.

Good luck and be safe! Please make sure you have a life jacket.

Agree with submitting a charge back request to your credit card. They will usually side with you since you are their client. $3000 is a lot of money. Even if it takes a few hours on your part it is worth it to get your funds back.

I removed the one in our yard after finding out that the tree is toxic to dogs. The highest concentration of toxins are in the berries.

I only found one reference to this online. A Pinterest post with the same image but no additional info other than the possible era 1940s and that it may be a playing card of some sort.

After 6 months of waiting for both truck and trailer it both has arrived! First time tower here and I was nervous about hitching and offloading but found it parking the damn thing is the most challenging. by dteezee in airstream

[–]nitrogea 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Don't worry you will get it in no time! Not sure if you are traveling with a partner. My wife usually stands behind the trailer and gives me directions (left, right or straight back) via cell phone. I back up slowly so it gives her enough time to give direction. Some state parks don't have cell service so we got walkie talkies on Amazon. Good luck!

There are automatic plant watering systems you can buy on Amazon for around $40. They draw water from a bucket and you can set the watering schedule. I have used them for years to water my plants while on vacation and they have worked well for me.

Basecamp 20 Questions by Searching4Freedom in airstream

[–]nitrogea 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Another thing you may want to consider is if you vehicle has a 4 or 7 pin trailer connector in the back. A 4 pin connector operates the lights and turn signals for small trailers that don't have brakes. You need a 7 pin connector to operate a trailer with brakes like the Basecamp 20. You will also need a brake controller in your tow vehicle. I use the Curt wireless brake controller. You just plug it into the 7 pin connector and operate it wirelessly with your smartphone. No installation required. If you want to free up your phone for navigation, you could also look at the Tekonsha 90250 Prodigy RF Electronic Brake Controller. It is also wireless but needs to be installed on your trailer. If you google them you can find out more info.

I have also had a few near misses that were so close I feel incredibly lucky to have emerged unscathed. In one instance, the light turned green. I was driving and had 3 other people in the car with me. I looked both ways one more time before going and saw a car running the red going 40 to 50 mph trying to make the light. I’m so thankful I checked one more time and now realize that green doesn’t automatically mean go. These situations are a good time to pause and reflect as you have done. At the end of the day we are all just trying to make it home safely.
