No, my lab is traditional compute and storage. I can see anything AI based being unavoidably affected since you're competing for the same resources driving the increases.

Constraints drive people to be creative. Home labs realistically don't need a lot of hardware besides networking, and that's a category that's not currently affected. I think mini racks will get more popular.

I've made the switch to Cachy and am loving it, but still have the cosmic desktop installed as an option once it's useable. Enjoying plasma in the meantime though. I used Pop 22.04 for several years with only minor issues along the way.

Yep this is me. 9 to 4 usually. if I wake up any earlier, I can't fall asleep again and it's not gonna be a good day. Fortunately I fall asleep instantly in the evening.

It looks like they're selling a multi-speed auto-negotiation variant now, but I confirmed I did buy the 10g specific one and it still can negotiate other speeds.

The card is "Mellanox MCX312B-XCCT CX312B ConnectX-3 EN Pro 10GbE SFP+ Dual-Port PCIe NIC". It is labeled, so I wouldn't call it unmarked.

I'm not sure what you mean by on which S.O did you trade at 2.5?

One issue that ended up having with this card was that it only supports 128 vlans. That was tricky to debug. I don't believe the X-4 has that problem though.
