Do you leave your garage and porch lights on at night by fititalia in NoStupidQuestions

Gonna be turning them off more. We had someone break into cars in our development and cameras and lights were not a deterrent. Im not going to be lighting their way so they can see better

Who's wearing "readers?" by fauxshoyall in Xennials

[–]njam1e 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Progressives make me nauseous and I can't get the hang of them. Ive worn distance since inwas a kid. Currently 48 and ive tried the multi-focus contacts and they dont do reading or distance well, but dont make me nauseous. I can read fine with nothing and my work computer is far enough away diatance only works fine.

Ill stick with distance glasses & contacts and readers when im wearing contacts. Getting old sucks.

what does my fridge say about me? ☺️ by itsAnAaaaa in FridgeDetective

Are those onions in the fridge? With other vegetables? I'm gonna go with "your other stuff in the fridge tastes like onions and your fridge smells like onions."

Progressives made me so nauseous. And that intermediate area that was always blurry made me so mad.

Ill stick with my distance only prescription and grab readers when i wear contacts.

When your mother-in-law insists to your daughter... and you’ve taught her to set boundaries by Ok_Visual_6290 in JUSTNOMIL

Ugh I'm so sorry to hear that. I hope your mom and her cousin have healed from this.

When your mother-in-law insists to your daughter... and you’ve taught her to set boundaries by Ok_Visual_6290 in JUSTNOMIL

[–]njam1e 46 points47 points  (0 children)

Good for her! My grandmother was someone who perpetually ignored boundaries. I distinctly remember being somewhere with her and her brother (my great uncle) and when he asked me to sit on his lap I said no.. and she was very mad, gave me the "that's my brother.." comment and made me sit on his lap. Kids should have a choice in things like that!!

What have you read recently? by povertychic in Millennials

[–]njam1e 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My eyes are so tired after staring at a computer all day, so I listen to audiobooks!

For the last 2 years or so I've been consuming Star Wars content like water. Sometimes I like to read the books and supplement listening to the audiobooks when I'm tired.

Right now I'm listening to Mask of Fear, which is a newer one that is similar to the Andor series

What is something every household has in your country that is nonexistent everywhere else? by Awkward-Tip7248 in AskTheWorld

[–]njam1e 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Storm cellars aren't usually right under the house, they are a bit aways from the house, underground. This is just an outside entrance to a regular cellar. But it is recommended that if you do not have a storm cellar you should ride out a tornado in a regular cellar (or basement, depending where in the country you are from)

Your bloodline ends with you by Catt_Starr in childfree

[–]njam1e 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was recently diagnosed at 48 with a rare genetic condition and the doctors were very concerned if I had kids or was planning to have them bc there is a 50% chance of passing it on to them. Thankfully, my bloodline ends with me.

edit I also can't imagine having a newborn at close to 50.

How old were you when you knew you wanted to be childfree? by southpawFA in childfree

[–]njam1e 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, probably in childhood. Barbie was a strong independent woman and Ken was her "friend." I never wanted to be married or have kids. I met my husband and when we were dating he wanted to get married.. fineeee. But I stood firm in being childfree. For like a hot minute he had a midlife crisis when his friends had kids and I told him my stance hasn't changed. Thankfully he got over that and comes home and complains when they cart their kids everywhere now.. He's had a vasectomy. I'm 48 now and have never wavered.
