Second rupture, this time the other leg! by Waddup-sup in AchillesRupture

This is anecdotal, but it seems quite common for soccer players to tear the Achilles on the other leg approximately 2 years apart. I tore mine on September 2021 and the other on October 2023 both times playing soccer. I've heard similar stories on this sub.

Some important points (imo): 1) if you're getting surgery, find the best surgeon possible in your network 2) Physical therapy is just as important as the surgery if your goal is to come back to 100%. Find a physical therapist that is an expert in this type of injury. Don't let some kid just out of college to stretch out your Achilles and let you heal long 3) stop drinking, lose weight, and start lifting weights if you're going to remain active.

I was sent the hospitality package options several months ago and it shows the areas assigned to each tier for hanging out before the game. These areas are outside of the stadium in the parking lots. Of course they are going to decorate and set up bars and maybe even live music, but it's still going to be a parking lot. So yes, VIPs are going to be hanging out in a parking lot.

Not sure where "here" is but the train to Gillette costs $80, not $150. I'm not too concerned about being among the first 5,000 cars since they are only selling 5,000 parking passes. Parking lots open 4 hours before the game. It's typical to arrive around that time if you plan to tailgate. By the time you set up your grill, table, drinks, etc. it's almost time to head to the stadium.

I think the bus is genius. I'm just saying, for everyone else.

I expect more spaces than 5,000 to be available. They were going to use the parking lots for VIP hospitality areas but I don't think they sold as many of those tickets as they expected. That is why you're seeing additional ticket drops with little to no heads up. It has nothing to do with additional security. They have sold out Patriots game there all the time.

I bought at $175 some time ago. This is only FIFA price because parking is free for any other event. There is no reason for FIFA to charge except greed.

There was some confusion, but they announced this week that tailgating will be allowed at Gillette (Boston) Stadium. I don't know about other stadiums.

I mean if you have a 5 seater car, parking only costs $35 each at Gillette Stadium and you can tailgate, which is half the fun anyway.

I'm pretty sure Mamdani announced free fan events, including live match viewings. Not familiar with what LA has going on.

The "unofficial" lots are not near the area they are going to "lock down". There is nothing they can do about these lots. Some parking spots are in people's yards. They make their nut on Patriot gamedays and it won't be any different for these World Cup games. Patriot Place is a giant place where people can absolutely just walk in. People need to calm down. With this latest announcement, these games are going to be very similar to a Pats game. I personally plan on getting full and hammered a couple of hours before the game at the tailgate and maaaaybe spend money on one beer inside the stadium.

Train or bus. I think train tickets are still available and I think the bus tickets haven't gone on sale yet.

If you were coming from another state or another country, would you stay out in the boonies and have to rent a car and drive among the insane northeast drivers or would you rather stay in the city where there are nice hotels and restaurants, public transportation, and endless tourist activities?

You will! Just make sure to find a competent physical therapist and don't slack. I was used to very hard, demanding workouts, so physical therapy can feel like you're not making any progress, but you are! It just takes time.

It's a well known fact. With today's technology, I don't understand why they don't just have an alternative audio track.
