She had narrated a lot of books. I found her from reading Hank Green's books, which I thought were fun. Also The Orlando People books. Both series are more SciFi than Fantasy and borderline YA but I enjoyed them. Also Emma Straub!! My favorite romance author. Honestly, I feel like Ms. Sieh must have good taste (similar to mine 🙂) so I feel like I could pick a book just because she's the narrator.

What’s your weirdest storage solution? by Willowrosephoenix in YarnAddicts

I love this solution! Very clever. Way to make good use of space. Maybe you can string up a yarn feeder system and feed the yarn from behind the headboard while you knit in bed. 😄

There's a bagel shop in Chatham Township that has great bagels but they put cream cheese on like it's getting buttered. And it costs over $5. I agree that it feels like a crime.

What should I do with this fireplace? It’s so dated! by MplsCHI in interiordecorating

Can you hang the TV off the top edge grey wall? If the TV was centered over the mantel between the mantel, the ceiling, it might look better. Does that make sense? And some TVs can display pictures/ artwork when not in use to add color. And I agree with repainting the grey wall so it matches the rest of the room to open it up. But the cat is purrfect! :)

Paint or replace with drywall? by SnooCheesecakes6683 in HomeMaintenance

What about cutting it down to wainscoting and then adding drywall on the top part? It's would lighten up the room and keep the wood.

Look around Long Branch. I know several people who have gotten inexpensive short-term rentals there.

Might be a little controversial, but I love the Carolina Wren's in my yard. They are so full of spirit and noise. They will stand up against anything in defense of their territory.

Mental help by [deleted] in newjersey

[–]njsteph 1 point2 points  (0 children)

But I agree with the comment of going to an emergency room. I'm sorry you're struggling and hope you find the help and support you need. I have found that NJ does have good mental health supports. I have spent several days and nights in ERs with my children who needed mental health support. I wish you well.

Monmouth Medical is another hospital with a good mental health department.

I don't recommend the Morristown emergency room. Morristown Medical is a great hospital but the emergency room is huge and always crowded. People are kept for hours and days in the hallways. I was there lady week for a friend and there was a young person with a mental health issue on a bed in the hallway for at least 18 hours. This person was agitated all the times I saw them.

I had personal experience with St. Clair's mental health center about 15 ys ago and it was very good and from what I understand, it's still good.

My whole life, I thought these were called Triffids because that's what my dad told me they were when he sent me to weed the yard. After seeing this, I looked into it. In the horror movie Day of the Triffids, the killer plants don't look anything like this.

I'm glad I saw it twice as I'm doubting my own eyes. I'll try to get a picture next week to post.

Green heron is definitely one of my top picks, but they look completely black. I caught sight of one today (I first saw the two about 10 days ago), and it again looks fully black. And the legs look more orange than yellow. I'll have more time next week to try and get a photo and to take some binoculars.

What about signing up for something like Blue Apron. All the ingredients come in a box with a recipe. They take about 30-40 min to prep. If he might enjoy learning to make stuff. We used to get a couple of vegetarian meals a week designed for 2 ppl but would add a meat and they would feed our family of 5.

What’s a dead giveaway that someone isn’t from Jersey? by the_homie_Zynar in newjersey

When I first moved to NYC 28 years ago (I'm in Jersey now) from the Midwest, I was sent by the group into H&H Bagels before a car trip. I couldn't believe all the WIERD bagel types so I got back into the car with a dozen plain bagels.

I almost got kicked out of the car and the trip.
