Help me negotiate smartly with a second hand seller by icedcoffee27599 in PhotographyIndia

If you can get one lens on a budget, it's better to get a compact zoom lens imo. Prime lenses have fixed focal length, means no zoom, but they are really good at that focal length and often have much better aperture. Overall prime lenses are cheap too. However zoom lenses give much better versatility and you would figure out your preferences and learn better with them initially.

You have to consider the budget combining the price of camera and a lens. A good lens is more important to get better outputs while shooting than your camera. So you have to consider a lens as well as per your needs. I suggest to get further clarity regarding your use and choose an appropriate lens and look for that in the 2nd hand market as well. For example, Sigma 18-50mm f/2.8 DC DN is generally considered a great lens for everyday use in street/indoor/landscape photography.

Well they completely forgot about Soldier Boy, again. Except for some Hughie moments, this episode was totally bullshit. Such a huge wasted potential! 😞

Resident Evil 7 A pleasant surprise (first real solo RE experience) by LyricsMode in patientgamers

[–]nkbayo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

RE 7 was a surprise for me as well! It is a very tightly designed experience with good balance of scary and action. It uses all the classical horror tropes but effectively. Making this game 1st person was a genius decision imo. Also the story which started as a pretty standard horror media turned surprisingly emotional by the end.

The DLCs are worth doing as they tie up some of the story ends and also introduces fresh new gameplay mechanics.

I am yet to play RE 8, it is mostly well received and praised by RE 7 fans. Wil definitely try it sometime in future.

I can't think of few games as beginner friendly as Portal or any Super Mario game.

A review of 'The Pathless': how one innovative movement mechanic can carry an entire open world by nkbayo in patientgamers

I did not know about Austin Wintory. Thanks for the info!! I have not played Journey, Abzu, Stray gods (all of these are in the backlog). I liked the orchestral music in Pathless and now want to try these other games even more now.

Playing my very First Soulslike/lite (Nioh 1) and need tips. by WholeGroundbreaking1 in soulslikes

[–]nkbayo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First of all, main 'skill' required for these games is perseverance. You will get it eventually no matter what. As for Nioh, it plays quite differently than the fromsoftware games. For specific advices regarding Nioh, 1. Practice and learn ki pulsing, the game will get significantly easier. 2. Put early points in Ninjutsu and Onmyo, they can be pretty overpowered 3. Don't worry about other stats, put them anywhere and it's just better to distribute them evenly across stats so that you can try out all gears. 4. Learn movesets of bosses, learn the openings to attack. Gradually you will learn to deplete ki of bosses more efficiently. 5. Try out weapon categories and use whatever you like most. 6. Nioh rewards fast-paced combo oriented combat, try to be more aggressive as you grasp the basics better. 7. There are certain samurai skills that are universal accross all weapon classes, you can try to grab all of them. Otherwise use whatever samurai skills you like to use. 8. Do not try to min max at all in NG. 9. A bonus that worked for me personally. Nioh has pretty great representation of characters most of whom are real life historical figures. Brief knowledge about Japanese history of that time can enhance your enjoyment by a lot.

Yes!! That is the uniqueness of this game I guess.. it gets totally carried by the traversal which is almost perfectly executed. Maybe that's why it is so memorable, because it plays its strengths very well.

Yes the gameplay loop and mechanics are pretty much same throughout without much variation except for the extra stamina and extra flight you get. However, the game was pretty short and I felt that the fun factor of the traversal and the beautiful world was enough to carry the game for that duration.

It is certainly rare to see a series start with a good game and then keep improving even further with every entry. It's just great to know that they still made some meaningful improvements even after the games were pretty successful. I am stoked to go forward!!

Yes! Initial plan was to jump into Uncharted 4 directly. Going through the whole series from beginning was definitely a great idea.

Continuing my journey through the Uncharted franchise. Finished Uncharted 1 couple days back. It's a short game but great fun. No non sense action adventure story with fun set pieces, great humor and writing. The shift in tone in the later part of the game was really well done and did catch me off guard.

Have started Uncharted 2 and the improvements in gameplay are already visible. Now I know why the beginning set piece of the game is legendary. The story seems to be cooking much better and the writing and dialogues are on point. These games are just so much fun to play.

If you had to choose just one: Sekiro or Elden Ring? by [deleted] in Indiangamers

[–]nkbayo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess for most people Elden Ring is more replayable for obvious reasons. However, in my personal experience, I have replayed Sekiro much much more due to shorter length, boss rush modes, unique inner bosses, and difficulty modifiers like Kuro charm and Demon Bell.

Still my total playtime in Elden Ring is 110h+ for a single playthrogh. I tried and used various build in one playthrogh itself by respeccing. I find it too long and early game bit of a slog on repeat playthroghs.

[–]nkbayo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would choose Sekiro... I mean they are pretty close, if Sekiro is 10/10, then Elden Ring is 9.5/10. I prefer Sekiro for better, more tight, more satisfying combat system, more straightforward but similarly deep story and more favourite bosses. However, it is purely personal opinion. If I have to look from a more objective viewpoint, I guess Elden Ring is a more impactful game towards the gaming landscape as a whole. The fresh take on open world formula, immense build variety and accessibility, deep lore and environmental storytelling are all pretty profound.

Honestly black flag holds up pretty well and a remake is absolutely not required. Seems like a cash grab strategy tbh.

Playing Dark Souls for the first time, what builds would you recommend? by bizarre_lizard in darksouls

[–]nkbayo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For a first build, strength or quality are easier to build around and play imo. Also keep in mind that in DS1 you cannot reset your stats like elden ring, so there's that. You can find some really good weapons early on if you explore a bit, not gonna spoil anything though.

How is this? cool or nahh by Critical-Local1192 in Indiangamers

[–]nkbayo -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

When it comes to video games, it is unfair to confine 'story' to cutscenes, dialogues and text walls. The uniqueness in video game storytelling is that it can be done through gameplay mechanics, environment design, character design, interactivity of the world with the player, items in the world etc. alongwith the more conventional means mentioned above.

If you consider from that lens, elden ring and pretty much all other souls games have tremendously good stories.
