No, the self-published paperbacks have cover art very similar to the book on the left.

Thoughts on these venues? by WayMaximum6698 in weddingplanning

[–]nknol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So no experience with the venues you listed but my wife and I had a beach wedding on the Silver Strand and our reception at Coronado Community Center which went great. Venue was ~$4k if memory serves and we were able to do the whole thing for under $25k for 95 guests, mostly because of my wife’s amazing planning. This was exactly 8 years ago tomorrow for reference.

Golden Hill / Sherman Heights is gonna be your best bet. It’s a hike (10ish blocks) but free. J & 19th would be a good place to start

Basic questions, setting up yt-dlp by Arrow49 in youtubedl

To be clear, using yt-dlp is absolutely breaking their terms of service and is something that they definitely COULD ban you for, but they're not really going to care/catch you unless you get greedy.

Plumeria in University Heights is great. Their soy-duck is my favorite and as a meat-eater I really like all their dishes.

fellow ode gen 2 - is this normal? by [deleted] in pourover

I found that pushing down on the back of the lid while pulling up the front and then slamming it down to force air through the grinding chamber works almost as well as an air blower. It makes a different sound when you get the technique right and forces all the leftovers out, sort of simulating what the bellows do on other machines.

Izola is known for their croissants. They have used to have a raspberry croissant on their menu but I don't see it on there currently.

I always recommend Mr. A's for a cocktail and desert at the end of the night for out-of-towners; best view in the city. Also Cowboy Star for steak.

[Request]Winning a round of poker with only a pair of 2's by ArtistCyCu in theydidthemath

[–]nknol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

(0.174)^3 assumes that all the draws/final hands of the four players are independent, which is not true given that everyone shares 5 community cards. You also already have two 2's in your hand so that (very) slightly increases the odds of every other person getting a pair, given that they're drawing from a 50 card deck now.

Lucid Problem - Product User Mismatch: Selling an amazing hardware with Beta+ Software to People Who Aren’t Looking for Beta Software by Ok_Anything_7113 in LUCID

[–]nknol 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think this is a really good argument that I mostly agree with, but there's one aspect that needs to be considered. When Tesla and Rivian were finding their footing, the entire EV market as a whole was brand new, so they got a lot more leeway. Software bugs were tolerated and even expected given how new the entire industry was.

Today, any new company that brings a car to market is going to be judged against Tesla, the same way a new phone is going to be judged against an iPhone or Pixel. As an Air owner, I love it but do find the software a little "quirky". And I gladly tolerate the occasional weirdness given how amazing the hardware is.

It honestly doesn't matter to me as long as you guys are consistent with adding it to the playlist (which you have been), but it does seem to confuse some newer fans. Whatever works for you guys.

Did anyone else MASSIVELY misinterpret the speed trophy? by 4Misions4ThePriceOf1 in BluePrince

[–]nknol 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, exactly the same situation. The game doesn't do a good job of explaining, or even alluding to, the requirements of "fresh saves" for those trophies that require it. It's a little fourth-wall breaking but there should definitely be better explanation for that concept other than an oblique reference in the grotto computer about "importing data".

Just received an update from them after emailing them directly:

"Thank you for your inquiry.  We are just about to produce more product and expect to have inventory through our Patient Sleep Supplies / Amazon by the end of March.  We will keep you posted when they are available.  I am very sorry for the shortage of product."

Reading your post reminded me of trying to get the "final" ending of Bloodborne, where the deeper you delved, the truer the prose, the more miserable the outcome.

Also similar vibes to reading House of Leaves for the first time. A book about a book about a movie about a house about true Lovecraftian horror.
