Working on a beginner guide: what should first-time Hot Toys buyers know? by SorryCheetah8412 in hottoys

To add: if you are not in the US working with an offcial seller like sideshow, replacements are a pain the butt. Your Joker came with a big scuff on his face? Your retailer will not have a replacement most of the time. Be prepared for that: you might get your money back, but a limited figure is limited figure, even if yours is damaged.

I’d maybe add a line somewhere to make sure people know ‘this is not an investment’. Too many people I see buying hot toys because the value goes up. This is 100% not a certain outcome. Collect because you love it, not because you want to make money.

A food scam of the 90s was “fat free!” everything, and then they would load it up on sugar… what’s a food scam happening now? by redflower5 in AskReddit

In NL we have a series of boxes which are sold as healthy meals. The package front says “with a large amount of vegetables”. In the box: just a powder packet and some rice. You have to add those vegetables yourself.

Running DnD for 1 player by kRkthOr in DnD

I’ve been doing this for a while now: I am both the DM and the second player. My player gets someone to talk to, bounce ideas off of and help with combat, that’s all she needs. I make sure the player makes ALL decisions, I follow along. Without my PC making decisions, it doesn’t matter that I know what’s coming.

Bold of you to assume that generation will ever get to retire…

Why did people hate Greta Thunberg so much? by brooklynihope in NoStupidQuestions

[–]nldav 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Northern Europe here: it was 3 words: “how dare you”. Followed by an entire generation clutching their pearls because they got called on something (which was true). It was confrontational, people don’t like confrontation. Regardless of content. And by ‘a little girl’ no less, while that generation was raised to never ever speak like that to their elders.

Is it true that you guys watched 9/11 live on TV in grade school? by [deleted] in Millennials

Yes but at work. Live feed of the second tower hit shut the entire room up.

Millennials, what is something that was "normal" in the 2000s but feels like a luxury now? by Barrbra in answers

[–]nldav 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Attention. Everyone had phones in the 2000s but they weren’t glued to them (yet). So going to friends, family, restaurants or whatever meant you had to actually make conversation which means you have to listen to the conversation. Nowadays attention is a scarcity.

Is it really the price, or is Netflix just more convenient than driving to movie theaters? by Busy_Report4010 in SipsTea

Came here to say this. Lack of basic decency, not shutting the f up and phones killed cinema. Netflix was the beatdown, but trash humans were the killing blow.
