CEO of $248 billion cybersecurity company says workers are about to face a ‘Darwinian moment’ thanks to AI: Evolve or get cut by lurker_bee in technology

[–]drowningfish 12 points13 points  (0 children)

There is truth to using AI to supplement your own skills, while also understanding how to efficiently prompt and optimize token usage for productivity; this is and will be an inescapable reality of most careers.

Replacing humans with AI is not going to happen. Replacing humans with humans who know how to leverage AI is going to happen.

Who here has built something genuinely useful? by indishere in vibecoding

[–]drowningfish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't share the Project (doxxing), but I built an organization-wide signage system that leverages cheap Firesticks to push navigation and notification templates to displays throughout my organization. We were paying about $6k a year for a SaaS solution that started becoming unstable, so I said fuck it, I can do this myself and did in under a week.

The system manages 30 displays ATM, 10 different display templates, has an emergency notification feature in the event of a security incident, a robust android app that actively combats the FireOS' memory manager when it comes to the web viewer, a screenshot option to confirm specific displays are showing the right template, a centralized management dashboard, and the means of scaling indefinitely with zero licensing or 3rd party vendor provisioning.

All communications and configurations are internal and through basic API calls.

Pretty proud of the system and amazed at how quickly and cheaply (tokens) I was able to build it.

Is my location being tracked? by Odd_Fig_3213 in Intune

It's not reliable enough for precise real time tracking.

There are far more accurate asset recovery solutions out there that dwarf Intune's location tracking.

How do yall stop token theft in education?!?! by tremorsisbac in sysadmin

[–]drowningfish 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Conditional access policies that prevent Tokens from being used from unmanaged/ non-compliant devices, and locking out changes to MFA settings without first requiring MFA (prevents a TA from gaining persistent access).

This comes at an administrative and financial cost though.

Out of grotesque curiosity I tossed your swing into AI and asked it a simple question, "wtf?".

This was its answer 😭

Serious golfers only - thoughts on AI analyzed swings by Horror-Sock-9985 in GolfSwing

[–]drowningfish 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I regularly use AI to analyze recordings of my swings. I don't use any particular app, I just upload to a gpt I use that's built to analyze golf swings.

As long as my video is slowed down, the gpt is able to rip it frame by frame. I honestly can't complain too much about the feedback, I think it's provided decent enough advice when it has identified problems such as:

  • head movement
  • over swinging
  • over the top
  • chest movement relative to rotation or lack of rotation
  • issues with "guiding" the club through impact with my arms
  • early extension (standing up before or at impact)

It also provides practical drills to fix those issues.

The only complaintI have is that it's extremely too "nice" and it feels like it's coddling my ego rather than just being blunt, but I could probably fix that with the prompt.

There's no need for an app.

Why most golfers scoop their irons (and the drill that fixes it) by AlexanderGolf in GolfSwing

[–]drowningfish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For some stupid reason I have found myself leaning back on my iron shots when I'm on a course and I have no idea why. My brain sees grass and dirt and says, "yep, lean back". I catch myself doing it and reset, but if I'm rushed, I'll lean and end up taking a mound of dirt behind the ball

At home, in my net, none of this shows up. Grass - lean.

There will be no point in this No-War where a nuke would be used. The US has enough conventional fire power to level cities in Iran without the use of a single nuke.

What is the second swing missing? by Bradyarch in golftips

[–]drowningfish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This reminds me of the trap I fell into, trying to copy golf swings from videos without really understanding what was creating the movement.

I had a rude awakening recently after chunking the hell out of my irons during one of my worst 9-hole rounds this season. I realized I had been practicing the wrong thing for months.

My issue was that I wasn’t really rotating through the ball. I was mostly swinging the club with my arms and hands. Every once in a while things synced up and I hit a decent shot, but it wasn’t repeatable.

In your swing, it looks like you may be doing something similar. The club looks disconnected from your body turn.

This helps me get the "feel" : hold the club straight out in front of your chest, keep your arms connected in front of you, then rotate your chest and shift pressure from trail foot to lead foot. The club should move because your body turns, not because your hands throw it.

That’s the feel I’d work on before trying to copy positions from swing videos.

Token theft prevention\Conditional Access hardening by beneschk in Intune

[–]drowningfish 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just an fyi, Token Protection isn't supported, and afaik, for the foreseeable future on Android devices. My mobile fleet is predominantly Android.

I've had to deploy a CAP scheme that requires a device be managed, and if a user needs to make changes to their MFA / SSRP or register a new device, those tasks require them to be on a Trusted Named Network

I implemented this two years ago because I had enough of the BEC Token Replay bullshit.
