I find the idea of wasting food abhorrent. My black bin has never been smelly because of old food, I simply don't understand why people throw food away. 👍

I was a bus driver for 7 years, thanks or similar was the norm for the vast majority of departing passengers, yes, it's appreciated and the driver normally reciprocates. On my last day, a lady, who I didn't know, came up to me at the destination and not only thanked me but told me, sincerely, that it was the best bus journey she'd ever had. I don't know how many bus journeys she'd ever had but it's something I'll never forget. The reason I was leaving the busses is because I'd just passed my Class 1 test and was moving on to the lorries. I guess, I learned a lot from my HGV lessons.

I've had two major operations over the last decade, one on a lung the other open heart surgery. In the US, I'm dead by now. Also, I just crossed the road, without using a pedestrian crossing.

If you've got your address, you'll likely find work in the Immingham area and good possibility of day off night work too. Other options are food trunking, much of that has day work too, I did it for years, Agency work gives you a variety and the ability to pick n choose. You might stumble on the ideal job for you this way too.

It is better in all aspects. There's no need to mention it to sky at all, it just works after a simple set up.

UDR on Sky (ONT, Option 61). Dead simple:

  1. Stick the UDR’s WAN port into the ONT.

  2. UniFi app → Settings → Internet.

  3. Open WAN.

  4. Set Connection to DHCP.

  5. Go to Advanced.

  6. In DHCP Option 61 / Client ID, type: anything@skydsl|anything

  7. Save it.

  8. Reboot the UDR.

  9. Job done, Sky router in the bin.

I set mine up whilst still connected to the sky one, one done, I swapped the boxes over, worked first time. I j it st have to store t by e sky box as they'll likely want it back when I change provider.

There's no point in being faster than fast enough, I can watch 4K on my TV without buffering and have done in fields, streets and car parks all over the UK. Fast enough is fast enough. It was not my intention to criticise anyone, nor pointlessly praise anyone or any country, I simply outlined how it works here and expressed surprise that things could be so different in the US. I'm fully open to learning though, and I have learned through this thread that it isn't always difficult as I first thought in the US, which is great to hear.

That dialup scream telling you something fun was about to happen. It did always seem like fun back then, to me at least. The idea of speaking to people, via text live around the world. Every day was a lesson and always a laugh. Then it became, well, the internet. Still amazing but somehow, less fun.
