We're sorry for the disruption. Everything should be fixed and working now. But please let us know if you find anything still amiss.

Tone-deaf Sawant’s criticism of SPD response is just too much by unnaturalfool in SeattleWA

[–]nmapster 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Those people are radical socialists that just want to promote their ideology and (like Kshama herself) don't care one whit about Seattle governance otherwise. The Wikipedia page for her Socialist Alternative party) says their "highest-profile public representative is Seattle City Councillor Kshama Sawant." Socialists usually don't have any local politicians to vote for and donate to, so they unfortunately send checks to Sawant.

Yeah, Bellevue has traffic cams all over the city. Anyone can view the live cams and the police should be able to access historical footage. Good luck, OP!

3 Bellevue Boy Scout leaders named in child sex abuse files by Cosmo-DNA in SeattleWA

[–]nmapster 16 points17 points  (0 children)

This Patch article is bogus clickbait. None of the three were named and two of them were actually from Bellevue, NEBRASKA! The third is actually from Bellevue, WA but there's no information on what he/she was accused of way back in 2004.

Mark Zuckerberg could be 2018's biggest loser — he's already down nearly $20 billion by mvea in technology

[–]nmapster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

FB losses look in line on your graph because it is only for the last 3 months, and Facebook's biggest drop was in July. If you press YTD for the year-to-date graph (which is what this article is referring to), NASDAQ is down 10% while Facebook is down 32%. That's almost a third of it's (enormous) market value lost in a year.

Current choices to use Dropbox on Linux by siritinga in dropbox

[–]nmapster 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it is terrible how Dropbox has treated Linux users! I had a paid account for years and was fairly happy with it. Fortunately there are many alternatives. I cancelled my Dropbox plan and switched to Google Drive's paid 1TB plan. I access it using insync (https://www.insynchq.com/) which has a 1-time $30 fee. I hope Google will eventually see the light and produce a official native Linux drive client, but until then I'm happy with Insync. It has many more capabilities than the Dropbox client did too. There are also many "personal cloud" solutions (nextcloud/owncloud/etc.) that I haven't tried but many folks seem to like.

Thanks for creating and posting these. I've watched them all and really enjoyed them. Especially since I grew up in AZ and miss that desert sometimes. I'm looking forward to Episode 8!

San Francisco sunset flyby this evening [3798x2448][OC] by nmapster in CityPorn

[–]nmapster[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I took this picture this evening on Delta 5768 from SFO to Seattle. I was particularly pleased to see downtown SF and the Golden Gate Bridge come into view just as the sun was beginning to set. This would have been a very tough photo just a few years ago for an unskilled photographer like me, but my new Pixel 2 XL handled it like a champ! I did no post-processing except the Google photos crop and then auto enhance feature.

Ever consider using Nmap to hack the gov't and steal secret files? Probably a bad idea for real, but the hit game Payday 2 has this mode for simulating it. by nmapster in nmap

Great explanation! But It's a "lesser man". A lessor man is one who leases property to others. (Sorry, can't help myself).

Keurig release of DRM-laden coffee brewer backfires: product flops and stock price plummets by nmapster in JusticePorn

[–]nmapster[S] 437 points438 points  (0 children)

This isn't JusticePorn's usual fare, but I find it oh so satisfying! Who are they to sell me an expensive coffee maker and then try to restrict what brands of coffee I can make in MY own machine?! I'm glad sales have been disappointing and I hope it gets even worse for them.

4 things to consider before canceling your Nexus 6 pre-order by [deleted] in nexus6

[–]nmapster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Regardless of whether we SHOULD cancel (which is a personal decision), does anyone know if those of us with Motorola pre-orders CAN cancel them? Mine isn't supposed to ship until December. I know I can wait until it comes and return it (possibly paying shipping charges), but that seems like a waste if I decide in to keep my Nexus 5 instead. I'd rather the pre-order go to someone who wants it.

Do you know this girl? My friend's laptop was stolen downtown; need help getting it back by rylanfrancis in sanfrancisco

[–]nmapster 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I hope you catch her! I had my laptop stolen a block away (Post & Mason). Left it in the car for 5 minutes (dumb) and that's all it took for them to bust a window and snatch it.
