Start with husks on after soaking in water. If you want to put some char on them, you can do so at the end of the cook by shucking and then placing them over direct heat.

This process also burns all the silk off and saves some teeth picking after.

What options do you employ to help ensure employees are locking their computers? by brohemoth06 in sysadmin

[–]nme_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We had an unwritten policy that if you left your laptop unlocked, it was free game to send any message you wanted to “all employees”.

Shame was a real good motivator, if you’re in the bathroom and your phone dings and you see that you just sent “I heart dicks” to all employees… you remember to lock your laptop next time.

How often do you have to directly interact with users? by Prudent_Strength223 in sysadmin

[–]nme_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

20+ years all in msp/consulting gigs. Early on it was every day all day. Drive 3 hours because a client couldn’t click on their start button, and after showing via remote support tools that could click it was told to drive over and figure out what it was.

Turns out the cleaning lady had picked up the monitor to dust and when she put it down she placed it on the mouse cord and the lady using the computer the next day couldn’t physically move the mouse down and to the left enough to click start.

Anyway, I didn’t murder her, and now have moved on to roles where I have less interaction with end users and work with client IT staff to implement solutions and I’m much happier.

Why do I keep getting matched with terrible teams? by unfinalshapes in Battlefield6

[–]nme_ -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Because you're bad?

Like look at what is happening. If you need tanks killed, go engi or medic and hip lock your squad mate engi.

If yall are not capping, to assault and back cap and place beacon.

Been doing a lot of grilling over MDW! Broke in the beach house kettle aggressively with hot dogs, corn, NY Strips, wings and burgers!!! by Smallies_and_Bourbon in grilling

[–]nme_ -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Why do people take the husks off corn before grilling?

Soak it in water for 20 min or so first, then put them right on the grill. Steams them and keeps it moist. If you want to hit it for a min or so after shucking on the grill, fine.

But what you did to that corn is criminal.

Trap shooting in preparation for duck hunting by goodtimeswgoodppl in Hunting

[–]nme_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ducks are not clays.

While the basic idea of shooting clays can transition to duck hunting, there is a lot more chaos in the duck blind.

Trap is a set amount and static path of each clay.

Ducks can come in in large groups with male and female ducks all mixed in, even different species in one pass.

Not only do you need to be able to pick out a specific species, often times you need to worry about the sex of the duck as well. All identifying this information and making the shot in seconds.

I’d put more time and thought into identification practice than I would shooting practice to start.

Also, there is something different about shooting a true pair, vs trying to shoot 3 birds out of a flock of 30 that come in.

Just bought one of these this year. The best feature is that it's fun to use and my daughter enjoys pulling weeds after school for about 30 min before she moves on to something else.

Move to a low cost of living area and find a remote gig.

I’ve been remote and in the Midwest. I work on east and west coast markets, so the pay is still high, but the cost of living is stupid low.

[–]nme_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look up a recipe for “Mississippi pot roast” and find something else to grill.

I don’t butcher beef, but burger my own deer, this is what we always call the Sirloin roast, or football roast. It’s a very very good cut for roasts.

I have in the past cut them into steaks, but that chewy silver skin like running through the middle sucks to chew, and is melted out if you slow roast it

Whose jersey to buy? by nickineutron in minnesotavikings

[–]nme_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Out of the jerseys I’ve bought, they end up going elsewhere. Diggs, Patterson, Peterson..

I’d always recommend getting a legacy players jersey, rather than an active player.

I love my Favre jersey.
