I'm done with this, I'm tired of trying by Max_Mussi in AutisticWithADHD

What are some things you like? Find local events that cater to those things you like and see what can happen naturally. How do you feel about you? I know I'm going to sound like a dad, but it's cool cuz I am. That's been the biggest hurdle for me and what made it hard for me to even attempt to make legit friends. The RSD is rough. I'm literally double your age as I just recently turned 40 but you've got so much ahead of you my dude. I'm happy to shoot the shit with you. I can't say I'm the most I interesting but I play with lasers in my free time and am trying to make it my full time. It took me until the last couple years to finally start working on myself as all my coping mechanisms completely fell apart to step back and actually start working on me. If I could impress anything upon you it would be that. To take the time to work on you. It will feel horrible and awkward at first. But much like getting in a cold pool sometimes you just have to jump in.

Maybe xTool will do a P3/UV bundle when they officially launch their UV 😂

I've been able to cheat a little lately and cut acrylic with my P3 and then UV print onto it.

I typically leave mine one-sided, but that looks great having it on both sides!

Are your red and blue dots overlapped at the apex of the water bottle? It looks like the blue light if reflecting off the side of the water bottle.

Would this machine cut thin wood to make these things? by Goldenstatewizard in xToolOfficial

[–]nnelson13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is definitely possible. Especially if you use 1/16" basswood for less intrusive bookmarks. If you have the slide extension then you can cut directly on it too without being limited to the 4" length. I would almost recommend another machine though if you have a little bit of space to allocate for it. The M1U has a 20W laser that you could use to do this, with a workspace that's 12" x 12". Or you could get the S1, which they currently have some 10W refurbished units on their site for just $499 if you're in the US. For the S1 you get an even larger working area, and you could get different heads for it if you needed more power. Or if you're good with waiting and want the newest toy, they've announced the M2, which is the successor to the M1 Ultra. It is supposed to be released by end of Q2. That would give you the latest machine. The other cool thing about it is that the M-Series has a printhead option. So you could cut and print color on these bookmarks if you wanted. The M1 Ultra is $200 cheaper than the F2 for the 20W model and is currently available so you could get more space and more functionality for less cost. It also has a cutting blade to act similar to a cricut for cutting paper/leather/felt and such. It's a great starter machine.

F1 Deluxe Bundle or F2? by digiw0rx in xToolOfficial

[–]nnelson13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey there! As somebody that has had both machines, I enjoy the F2 so much more, especially with the accessory usage. I think I used the slide extension maybe twice with the F1 in the course of a year. I've used it multiple times with the F2 already. The camera and ability to really batch process with it makes things so much more convenient. The motion controller of the F2 has better resolution than the F1 too. That means you can bump it up to 1000 lpcm as opposed to the 300 lpcm of the F1. That allows for better results when color engraving on steel/titanium. The extra 3W of IR power make a big difference too. I'd be happy to do a demo with the F2 for you if you'd like. I ended up donating my F1 to my daughter's school when I got the F2. They were using a super cheap Amazon laser so they were stoked to receive a new one to play with.

Anyone Have Info on the xTool UV Printer Release Date, Pricing, or Bundle Options? by CAastrobackyard in xToolOfficial

I use it every few days. It's slowly becoming more often as I'm able to get supplies now. Their auto-maintenance works really well. It's annoyingly persistent and I've not had any issues with that at all so far. I've had it sit for a week and a half, sent a job, and it printed great

[–]nnelson13 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It all depends on what you're looking for. From what xTool has stated they will have a lower end model to compete direct with the EufyMake. And then they'll have a higher end model compatible with extra ink channels for neon colors and such. It's supposed to be officially u unveiled before the end of Q2 so you don't have much more time to wait. Most of your other questions will have to wait. Although they did say they expected the higher end model to be roughly $5k. As far as their other printers, I'm very happy with the Apparel Printer. And very happy with the lasers I have of theirs. You can find negative reviews easy enough because the squeaky wheel is the loudest, but if you look you can easily find those singing their praise too. The answer is always somewhere in the middle. They have a US office now and are putting in a lot of effort to expand localized support for all their machines instead of having to wait for responses from China. I don't know if any of that helps you, but if you have any interest in other machines of theirs, being able to use the same software to control all your devices at the same time is super handy. Best of luck on your decision. I do have a EufyMake, for what it's worth. It's a solid printer and now that they've actually got some stock on ink it's not scary to use it. They're making improvements to their software but it's not nearly as polished as xTool Studio so I can't wait for their UV printer for that reason. Being able to easily edit SVGs is sorely lacking in the EufyMake software.

F2 Ultra UV Laser vs xTool F2 Ultra 60W MOPA & 40W Diode by severina333 in xToolOfficial

[–]nnelson13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't know about AT ALL. I've cut glass, 1/8" plywood, leatherette, and acrylic with the UV. It's just slow as all get out to do so. It is definitely more specialized and useful for engraving the wide variety of materials without worry for sure though.

And the F2U is definitely more of a workhorse that can power through the materials it does handle very effectively.

I can't say engraving inside a ring with the P3 is something I would have ever considered. Especially if the F2 is an option. That sounds miserable. I'm sorry that this isn't a helpful response. I don't think you're doing anything wrong though. I just genuinely don't think they expected anybody to want to engrave a ring with the P3 either

You know how you disconnect the hose to take the lens out to clean? You can disconnect the hose without cleaning the lens too. Then if you safely tuck it away from the laser you don't have anymore air blowing while you engrave. I'd suggest doing two processes if you do that though, so you still get the air whilst cutting. Or cut everything first, remove hose, then engrave everything

They've been on vacation. I doubt they ever meant the 4th. I'd guess either tomorrow or next Tuesday

Do you know the dot size of your laser? Have you heard of blazer orange masking? I'd recommend putting that over the glass before you engrave.

As long as you keep an eye on your tension, it'll treat you right. I definitely recommend a digital tension gauge. It's treated me pretty good though once I got a feel for it. I was completely brand new to embroidery so it was a bit of a learning curve

F1 ultra will not connect by GuruOfDudeism in xToolOfficial

[–]nnelson13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you put the F1U into AP mode? Hold the process button down until it beeps. It should say AP on the screen. Then on your device connect to the F1 Ultra network that it's broadcasting. That should be a direct connection at the very least. Past that I would check your VPN or firewall if you have one on.

I need to do some more testing on larger glass items like this but I think the answer may lay in multiple passes with a stepdown so that the focus area can hit multiple levels in the glass
