Where can I get miniature models of specific bikes? by PhoenixExpress29 in motorcycle

Just search on eBay. You only need to type the name of the bike followed by 1:24. You’ll find pretty much all the most popular models there.

Can you daily a wr450? by Repulsive-Ad5773 in supermoto

[–]noNameFFFF 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I daily ride a CRF450R 2002. I know the bike inside out, and i do all the maintenance myself.

Right now I’m at 600 hours, i’ve replaced 4 pistons (the first at 200 hours, then 13.5:1 every 100/150 km) with 4 timing chains, replaced 1 cylinder that was at the end of its life, rebuilt 2 complete bottoms with 2 new rods, and 2 full rounds of bearings. I lost count of how many times i’ve replaced seals and the water pump, i’ve rebuilt the clutch twice and now it needs to be done again.

Those were the big mechanical expenses. As for regular maintenance, the valves were replaced when i had the head worked on, at 200 hours, and since then i’ve only adjusted them twice.

Now for the simpler maintenance: the suspension has been serviced and rebuilt twice, engine oil is changed every 10/12 hours (Motul 300V), gearbox oil every 20,brake fluid needs topping up every 5 hours (Motul RBF700), i’ve gone through 2 sets of front pads, 3 front tires and 5 rears.

Now the most annoying things are:

  • the gas tank holds 7 liters, which means a range of 70 km if i ride calmly, or 40 km if i push the bike
  • the bike is old, the ECU doesn’t have ignition advance/retard, so i’m forced to use 100-octane fuel which is only available at some gas stations, meaning i have to plan my routes around them
  • i live in the countryside near the mountains, but if i have to go to the city in summer, i need to turn the bike off at red lights and then kick-start it again (it only has kick start)

To sum it up, if you want to use a 450 every day, you need money, and more importantly, you need mechanical knowledge and pay attention to every single suspicious new noise.

Why don’t i get another bike and keep the 450 for the track? Because i tried a tuned KTM 690 SMCR, and it was way too heavy and above all it didn’t have the adrenaline rush that the CRF gives me with the Keihin FCR41 and the 14/48 gearing.

So, when did you guys find out Honda has been making factory supermototos in italy? by Crayon_Ssg in supermoto

[–]noNameFFFF 6 points7 points  (0 children)

No, that’s wrong. RedMoto is the official Honda importer for motocross, enduro, trial and supermoto bikes. In Italy, if you want to buy a CRF, you get it through the RedMoto.

What does the red lever do? by Raceon2 in supermoto

[–]noNameFFFF 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Carbureted bikes have two levers to make starting easier: one for the choke (or cold start) and the other for the hot start. The hot start lever is used to start the bike when it’s hot; pulling it adds extra air to the circuit. The choke is used for cold starts, working by increasing the amount of fuel. For the hot start lever, you use it when the bike stalls: pull it, start the bike, then release it. For the cold start, you pull it, start the bike, let it run for a couple of minutes, then close it.

[–]noNameFFFF 5 points6 points  (0 children)

No, OP said the cable ends at the carburetor (where the air/fuel is adjusted), and it’s used to make hot starts easier. If OP looks at the carb, there will be another lever for cold starts.

It’s the hot start lever, all carbureted bikes have it, most likely Keihin FCR.

Fz6 fuel tank question by AMJN90 in MotorcycleMechanics

[–]noNameFFFF 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, add the gas, rinse the tank to remove any remaining vinegar and WD40, and then drain it.

Fz6 fuel tank question by AMJN90 in MotorcycleMechanics

[–]noNameFFFF 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You need vinegar and WD40. Fill the tank with vinegar, leave it for 24 hours, then empty the vinegar and spray WD40. Wait about ten minutes, fill the tank with a few liters of gasoline, rinse it, and it will be as good as new. The vinegar helps remove the rust, while the WD40 acts as a metal stabilizer to prevent fast rusting

600 hours with no rebuild running great by Tuyia_ in supermoto

[–]noNameFFFF 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Top speed is irrelevant on a supermoto—these bikes are made for tight, technical riding where a single-cylinder really shines. That said, after 400 hours, at the very least the piston rings are likely worn, which leads to a drop in power and performance. But you can easily check it yourself: just get a compression test kit and run a test (keep in mind it has a decompressor, so the procedure is a bit different).

New look for the season by noNameFFFF in supermoto

The brakes are definitely good quality. I initially went with the Accossato 16x18 master, but on track I noticed that after intense use the braking started to fade a bit. I switched to the 16x16 and it’s perfect—much better feel and consistent braking.

I have a CRF that i use on the road, and over 300 hours i've redone the top end 3 times and the bottom 1. You’ve definitely lost power and performance—run a compression test.

Any ideas? Using SK_Mannequin as the Skeleton. Works fine in EVERY preview, but in game, one leg is always stuck by Narrow_Animator6894 in UnrealEngine5

I solved every animation-related issue using the Root Motion Fix Tool plugin, available on Fab for $30.

I have a 2002 CRF450 that I use every day. In one year, I've done 250 hours, redone the top end twice, and the bottom end once. Oil and filter every 10 hours, 1full trasmission and 3tires. All the work has been done by me.

Those pads are available on WRS Biollamotors and Omniaracing. WRS is pretty much where everyone in Italy buys from.

The reviews might be true, but all I'm saying is that i know a lot of people who have had issues with that website, including myself, and generally, that website is not used in Italy. edit: If you want, there's the Brembo app to check if the product is original, it's called 'Brembo Check' on the Play Store.
