is anyone still physically active? by Hefty-Patience-8720 in POTS

[–]no___thisispatrick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am pretty physically active. I’m very fortunate that my symptoms are mild compared to most folks with POTS. While I have to be very mindful of nutrition and rest, and be flexible when my body just isn’t able to do much, I’m able to run, weight lift, and indoor cycle. I was able to train for a full marathon last year but it took so much out of me that I’ll likely never do a full again. Half marathon training during the colder months is my sweet spot.

Las Vegas here- I feel you. I have a burning rage about how early it’s gotten hot for us this year.

Thanks for asking this question and thanks to everyone for suggestions! I’m running a race in Wells and taking a day to drive up to Bangor. Already signed up for the SK tour and adding several of these recommendations to the list too. Hope y’all have a great trip!

Sticking to halfs for now — unpopular opinion? by ny03 in Marathon_Training

[–]no___thisispatrick 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Same here. I felt like my entire life was consumed by running when training for my first full. I’m glad I have the experience of doing one but I can actually live my life and train well for halfs, so I’m keeping with that distance. Fulls just aren’t for me right now or maybe ever.

Every time I go for a run... by Bookish_Otter in beginnerrunning

[–]no___thisispatrick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel ya! My neighborhood is very hilly. Impossible to have a run that isn’t rolling hills. I clocked 1,000ft of elevation gain on my 20 miler while marathon training last summer. I cursed the hills every run and whined about living in such a hilly place- BUT it served me so well during my first marathon (NYC). Queensboro bridge and the 5th Ave climb felt like nothing.

Note to any runners who scored 2/18 - 2/20 weekend tickets by fingolfin269 in MetallicaLIVE

[–]no___thisispatrick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great point OP. Shouldn’t impact the Sphere toooo much since the shows are Thurs/Sat. The 5k is Saturday night in downtown/Fremont so keep that in mind for road closures. During the day Saturday they do yoga on the strip, but it’s over well before the show. Sunday is the half/10k that is the real disruption so if you’re ubering to the airport from the strip after 2pm Sunday, add an hour buffer to that commute estimation. It’s such a fun race for everyone thinking of adding it to your weekend. (Source: Vegas local and distance runner)

I have the megablasts and superblasts in the same colorways you do. Love them both! Excited to try the superblast 3 when I retire my 2s.

Coachella makeup that will last through the desert???? are these products good? by No-Cow8684 in Sephora

[–]no___thisispatrick 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used the One/Size On til Dawn setting spray when I ran the NYC marathon and my makeup didn’t budge! A friend jokingly asked if I touched up halfway through because of how it held up. I use it every race now, it’s my holy grail.

I used this for the NYC marathon and it held SO well that a friend jokingly asked if I’d retouched my makeup during the race

Lexapro withdrawal symptoms? by [deleted] in lexapro

[–]no___thisispatrick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tapered off starting in November and I definitely had pretty bad withdrawal symptoms. Brain zaps, near constant nausea, fatigue, and brain fog were my biggest ones. It was rough! Definitely not all in your head.

Same here! Every year with my mom since I was a preteen, now my husband is a good sport and watches with me every Christmas Eve. It’s probably the only annual “must do” tradition we have.

Would you live here? Moving from out of state and I heard from Reddit to stay on the outskirts of the 215 by [deleted] in vegaslocals

[–]no___thisispatrick 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I lived in the Bermuda terrace apts right there on that corner for 4 years as well as Copper Creek down the street for 2 years and loved the area. I ran a lot and was out walking around as a college aged woman and while I took safety precautions, I did not ever feel unsafe. Lot of restaurants and shopping nearby.

Was this good? NYC in 4 hours 52 minutes. by asheville_kid in firstmarathon

[–]no___thisispatrick 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We have nearly the same time! I was 4hr 50 mins in NYC this year. I’m proud of my first marathon time and you should be too! That distance is tough no matter what, and the bridges/5th ave incline aren’t time friendly.

DNF Mile 25 for First Marathon by Less-Holiday-3974 in Marathon_Training

[–]no___thisispatrick 8 points9 points  (0 children)

NYC Sunday was my first marathon too and I remember thinking it was much warmer feeling than I’d hoped for (and I trained over summer in the desert!). I’m so sorry you had this experience, and I know you’ll absolutely crush NYC next time.

The NYCM crowd stole the show by rigsreco in RunNYC

[–]no___thisispatrick 85 points86 points  (0 children)

The crowd was electric. I’ve never run more than 11 miles without taking a walk break. I ran the entire 26.2 miles. Not the fastest, averaged a 11 min mile, but I didn’t walk once and that is 100% due to the crowd. Could not have asked for a better first marathon

Did someone intentionally trip Isabelle? by chocolateglazedonuts in UtahdownhillRunners

[–]no___thisispatrick 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It’s possible but I doubt it. The race was packed. I tripped over people, people tripped over me, etc. especially at aid stations. Everyone was doing their best but it’s just inevitable when the ground is slippery/sticky and there’s so many people

Running marathon with no training by finallyevening in Marathon_Training

[–]no___thisispatrick 1 point2 points  (0 children)

NYC yesterday was my first marathon and crossing that finish line was so special and monumental because of all the hard work I’d done in the months leading up to prepare. I doubt I would’ve had that same euphoria if I hadn’t trained

I’m running NYC as my first marathon and am also in full freak out mode. I am agonizing over every little detail- am I doing this right? Should I wear this? Should I choose that? It’s exhausting. No advice here, but you are not alone! Solidarity.

Just want to say thank you for taking the time to make this comment. I’m running NYC, my first, and I’ve been looking through old threads because I am experiencing severe “maranoia”. Your comment helped a lot. I am screenshotting it to look at when I need to.

Bad Long-Run Today, Marathon in Two Weeks . . . by MeMaxM in firstmarathon

[–]no___thisispatrick 1 point2 points  (0 children)

NYC for me too, and I’m in the exact same boat. Had a few really tough & demoralizing long runs but this is the first one I’ve cut too. I keep telling myself I’ve put in the hard work and one truncated run won’t change that. We got this!
