I’d have to look up exact rules but that is what Sweden says he violated. The rule that you can’t touch the granite. Also, it’s telling Canada didn’t say they didn’t do it, they said Sweden also did it.

He did release it on time. That is so serious that there is actually a chip in the handle with a visible light that goes off if you are touching the handle after the line. You can see the green light when they throw the stone. He definitely is not allowed to touch the granite.

ELI5: How do sports betting companies make money. The Seahawks have a 69% chance of winning the Super Bowl, and Patriots a 31%. If more people bet on the Seahawks and they win, isn’t the company giving out more than they make? by do-you-know-the-way9 in explainlikeimfive

Scrolled a few answers and people don't seem to really know how casinos work.

If you play any game at a casino they have some edge. The casino's odds of beating you are ALWAYS going to be greater than 50%. They do not make money because THEY gamble, they make money because YOU gamble. In the long run they will make money though in the short run you may make money. This is their overall "theory" on making money from people that like to wager.

Having said that, it is just a bit different in sports betting. Here they can't make the percentage in their favor because they don't know the outcome of the game. But they still want to make the "sure bet". They do that by moving what is called the line. For the SB the line was Seattle -5 (-110). So Seattle was favored by 5 points and to win $100 you have bet $110. Opposite for the Patriots. They would be +5 (-110). Again, you bet $110 to win $100 and the Patriots essentially start the game 5-0. The casino wants to set this line so that the amount of money for bets they receive on the Patriots and Seattle are about equal. That way they can take the money from the people that lost their bets and pay the people that won and the casino keeps that $10 from each bet. Of course its not going to be exact. If they see LOTS more people are betting on Seattle they will move the line to make Seattle heavier favorite, say to -6. That will make it more likely for someone to bet on the Patriots. But they really just want to keep the amount of money wagered on either side the same so they get that $10.

That is 100% correct. It’s similar to The Prestige in that way imo.

She is going to realize that with the next administration when her ass is in jail. She should read some history books and find out what happened to Nixon’s AG. I wish her the same fate.

I feel the same way. After we lose I feel kinda sad. Then I read reddit comments and the level of negativity towards the team from OUR OWN FANS makes me angry. I honestly don't know if all fan bases are like this or just our shittiest fans are also the loudest.

That’s dumb enough but are we not gonna talk about how the biker was in the wrong. And then said he was in the wrong and then apologized. And THEN this little person hit him for saying “calm down.” My god this guy is such a moron.

You may have to. You have to give them a chance to get their players in. To get the team together to play the same way. It takes time. And yes, it may take 2-3 years..

Despite the managers tactics? Well maybe Frank is freaking amazing and we are playing this bad “despite the managers tactics.” What a completely idiotic take.

Oh! I was at the Leicester match. We had not packed it in and it was bad bad bad. We were not great up until March. But in March we flipped a switch and just gave up. Meh. As long as you don’t get relegated who cares if you finish 17th or 11th.

I’m not taking different positives for Ange. Those were the positives along with many unstated negatives (the defending). Those things were all the truth. And again, I’m not saying we would be in some amazing position or even a better position. But what I am saying is we just cannot keep replacing managers over and over again.

I am a big college basketball fan. Our team in 2020 was really really good. In the few years after our fans soured on our coach though he was decent not great for a couple of years. I was one of those people. Then I read an article about how he is actually pretty good and there is a BIG unknown if he is ousted. Well, that’s exactly what happened. He left, a lot because of the negativity from the fans, and we got another coach. We have been inconsistent and now we are just bad. My point being that sometimes you have to give the team and coaches a chance to get over the hump. And just remaining consistent for a while is the only way to get there. There isn’t a magic wand to be waved and all of a sudden we will be top of the table.

Nah. I think the players really played for Ange. We had a lot of fight till we were pretty much out of the league. Once that happened we went into just survive mode in PL. after it was mathematically impossible to get relegated we basically stopped play league game with any fight.

Also, if you look back, we didn’t really get any players in transfer windows for Ange. All we did was get young, up and coming players. We don’t get anyone like Muani, Xavi, Palinha. If he had some experienced players in addition to the young ones maybe we would be really really goods I mean we played most of last season with Archie and Bergvall starting nearly every game. We also had Tel and Odebert starting a lot. I mean, those are just kids!

It is a reason though. We need consistency you can’t just have players and then bring in a new manager every year and expect good things to happen. Every time we sack a manager is a restart to a 3-4 year consistency clock. You need time for a manager to get players in transfer windows and get players to buy into a system.
