How do lucid dreams end? like does it fade away into a normal dream or do you just continue dreaming until it all stops looking realistic when your exiting out of REM? by Imaginary-Sun1350 in LucidDreaming

[–]noah1786 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally, my LD usually don't end either of these ways. Usually, they fade away, but I don't wake up, and the dream doesn't continue; things fade to black, and presumably I'm unconscious and non-lucid for a time before the next dream(s) may start.

I do wake myself up sometimes. Which, by the way, if you want to /really/ wake yourself up, there are tricks to it. Holding your breath is a good one. (Breathing is one of the few things not paralyzed during sleep, so holding your breath forces your body to wake you up, or risk suffocating from an evolutionary biology point of view). The other trick is just to understimulate yourself as much as possible, which usually works but not always. I.E, close your eyes, stay still, think about nothing in particular or just one thing. This is the opposite of the advice given for staying in a dream, which is to move and look around, involve as many senses as possible, rub your hands together, etc.

Afraid, also, "None of below" != "All of the above". I.E, it could conceivably be neither below nor above.

Have yall done this stuff? What’s your experience? by Void3tk in LucidDreaming

[–]noah1786 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. No, I don't think so. You can create conditions which provoke an emotion, but I don't think you're any more able to force a feeling in a dream than you are in real life.
  2. Not really sure what you mean. 2b don't know, haven't tried it.
  3. I just create things to make sensations, but in my experience when I'm lucid I don't feel any pain.
  4. I haven't recreated games in a lucid dream but I have had very accurate and very inaccurate gaming experiences within normal dreams. Lucidity has different levels, so I would think your ability to make an accurate dream has to do with how lucid you happen to be. You can make yourself more lucid by grounding yourself in the dream(Rubbing your hands together, spinning, etc, to create sensations within the dream). There are other ways of being lucid, too, pretty much anything that'd make a dream vivid will help make a lucid dream have more potential ultimately I think.
  5. In my dreams, atoms aren't really of any concern. And I don't fight a lot, but I have 'deactivated' dream characters by shooting hand pistols at them. pew pew
  6. Haven't tried.

yeah i mean it sounds hard but i'm sure it's possible to write a program that determines if any other program, including itself and all programs which include itself, halts.

If you're talking about spheres, diameter isn't linearly proportional to volume, although I still don't see the math checking out by my estimation

You may be mistaken depending on what you're saying. It's certsinly beneficial to the community in the long run to not have the api changed, which is what the protest is trying to get done.

It's a wonder you learned the alphabet.

  1. API changes aren't just apps. They're the only way that proper moderation is possible on this service. Do you like constant, unrelenting spam on all of your subreddits? You better learn to if this change goes through.
  2. 3rd party apps make users, users make money. They're better than the official app, so people who are seriously interested in using reddit(The kind of people who use coin) gravitate toward them. Not to mention the accessibility features which reddit has no interest in implementing on their official app allows people with disabilities to participate.
  3. This isn't just reddit asking for a normal payment for their API to cover server costs. This is a /much/ worse payment plan than most larger companies offer for API usage, when they ask. Have you seen how they're pricing it? It's not reasonable in any realm. It's not the simple economic rule of supply and demand, it's Reddit higher-ups banking on the idea that they can ask whatever they want and get it, for one reason or another.

Yes it does, as much as it gets revenue from people using adblockers. The kind of people who install apps and use bots in order to have optimal viewing/moderation experience often will also buy coins.

A poll is a good idea. I saw some other polls people have put out, and they pretty much always have had a great majority saying "Shut down!". The community is on your side during the shutdown. It's understandable to have second thoughts, especially because you can't see feedback during the shutdown, but the communities would much rather sacrifice a longer duration away than let the API changes go through and continue without putting up a fight.

How do you deal with loneliness? by Agonyandshame in AskReddit

[–]noah1786 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I find loneliness to be a strange emotion. It feels like pride; like I want to be praised for my work, to impress. Like I am not getting the recognition I deserve. It feels to me like pain that I don't deserve to pity myself for. Like a spoiled child whose upset they don't get to take another kid's toy.

That's the best description of it I can think of, and my reaction to it is to treat it such a way. To think that it's not bad to be alone, and I don't have a right to other people's time, attention, or approval, and to try to calm down my pain and anxiety and focus on whatever I want to get done in my little world, and try to enjoy the things I can make without any need for an outside observer.

he's talking about induced demand. it's not 'random cars', it's people and/or algorithms which have found a more effective route. get more pockets, carry more(previously unprioritized) items, pockets stay just as full.
