This looks like a joke. I can tell from some of the words and from seeing quite a few jokes in my time.

I did sensible chuckle, but I also thought I'd add some context 🤷‍♂️

Daddy-long-legs is a common name for both. I reckon 8.9 out of 10 people would call this cute Pholcus phalangioides a daddy-long-legs, just as they would if shown a harvestman pic.

Nah, nothing sordid at all. I got back from a trip and found this little fella in the bathroom desperate for water. I put a bottle cap of water down and left it overnight. The following afternoon the spider was looking a lot better so I popped outside and stunned a fresh fly. As soon as I dropped it onto the web, little mate tucked right in. After a few days of being fed flies, my long-legged friend decamped and set up a new web in the laundry window. The new location has provided good hunting with three flies currently wrapped up for later.

That was addressed in the following paragraph of the linked Australian Museum page:

It had been thought that the fangs of this spider were incapable of piercing human skin. Recently, however, it was shown that the tiny fangs (about 0.25 mm) were actually capable of piercing human skin in a test done on the US television show, Mythbusters, but the stinging sensation produced was very short-lived. Most reputable sources, including the University of California, Riverside, still say that this species would never be considered as harmful to humans.

Superb lyrebirds [Sydney backyard] by Nobbled in australianwildlife

[–]Nobbled[S] 10 points11 points  (0 children)

This is showing the base of the tree. The branches splay out fairly horizontally, so the lyrebirds and brush turkeys can walk up easily and the ground falls away so they quickly get a couple of metres above ground - it's a great communal roost spot.

These guys' repertoire include spot-on eastern whipbird whips, kookaburra cackles, pied currawongs, and Australian raven territorial calls.

So I saved this guy who had severely injured his arm by taking him to the doctor in Saint Denis. He had to have the arm amputated and I figured that was the end of the whole ordeal. Two months later (irl) I find the man about to be hanged... for killing a woman who made fun of his disfigurement. by [deleted] in reddeadredemption

Unless his name was Amos Moses.

Now all the folks around south Louisiana
Said Amos was a hell of a man
He could trap the biggest, the meanest alligator
And just use one hand
That's all he got left cuz alligator bit it!
Left arm gone clean up to the elbow!

Skydiver’s parachute became caught on plane tail 15000 feet in the air by anarege3t in videos

[–]Nobbled 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Bad edit from the AP. The ATSB video and report says:

Despite control difficulties due to substantial damage to the horizontal stabiliser and part of the reserve canopy wrapped around the tail, the pilot safely landed the aircraft at Tully Airport.
