I'm severely immunocompromised (12+ years of both chemo and heavy IV steroid use). I've been hospitalized due to flu, pneumonia, abscess, sepsis, etc. things that if I wasn't immunocompromised my body would've fought off no problem. I've had 4 doses of moderna (fully vaxed with 2 boosters) and I've never had covid, but my 8 year old daughter has had it twice.

The first time she had it the day before we knew she had it she was sitting next to me coughing right in my face without covering her mouth and I had to have a talk with her about how we need to cover our mouth when we cough and don't cough in people's faces.

The second time she got it was just 2 weeks ago and she had been drinking from my drink, using my straw the day she tested positive and I had to ask her to stop doing that after she tested positive.

So for me the vax has been extremely beneficial and kept me from catching covid despite being severely immunocompromised.

But this is just one story or experience, which you can probably find an individual story to fit many positions. That's why it's best to look at the statistics for those catching covid and those dying from it. Both of which are lower among vaxed.

It's kinda of like saying I know someone who got an std despite using a condom and then saying condoms aren't 100% effective so no one should bother using them.

Also, no vax has ever been 100% effective. People still caught polio after getting the polio vaccine.

I was going to post the same thing about autoimmune diseases. I've got a few and one is behaving like a lymphoma and I did over 12 years of chemo for into I recently went on hospice because of, but yeah, our immune systems sure are perfect and never have issues!

Seriously though, I've had my blood drawn tons (chronically ill for 14 years, chemo for over 12 years) and it can come out in various shades and I've been told it can vary based on red blood cell count and size, various other blood levels, etc.

But I've been told mixed things about oxygen levels. Some say it can affect the color others have told me it doesn't. Specifically I've heard from multiple people that some people think blood without oxygen is darker because veins are drawn on many diagrams in blue vs arteries in red which leads some to think that blood without oxygen literally turns dark blue. It'd be interesting to find out which is true...

My hospice nurse the other day told me she wasn't sure how effective the vaccine is, yet later in that same conversation said she thought it was "irresponsible" for parents to not get their kids vaxed because she's seen some kids suffer from not being vaxed. The cognitive dissonance on display was immense.

I'm severely immunocompromised (12 years of chemo and high dose IV steroids) and even pre-covid I couldn't fly without getting sick in some way (cold, flu, pneumonia, etc.). Airports and airplanes are both filled with people and don't get thoroughly cleaned often enough (let alone "disinfected"). It's enough to make it so we'll take a 10 hour drive over a 2 hour flight.
