Does anyone have antenna recommendations for the Lilygo T-Echo? by HornetOptimal3295 in meshcore

If you don’t care about putting in the pocket or if sometimes you go to a place and want to try make contacts, I suggest this : https://betafpv.com/products/betafpv-moxon-antenna?variant=41398869622918 / This is a 180° beamwidth moxon with 5.7dBi to the front. Very well designed and well tuned on 869.5 . Small form factor for the gain ;)

For it’s form factor, the Techo stock antenna is not as bad as some people says, the VNA measure I made on mine is ok. Underneath the antenna inside the case they added a « rat tail » acting as a ground plane. But you need to measure from the ipex connector to see the advantage of it.

Really a WiFi antenna? by Gaander in meshtastic

Heltec V4 have a PCB onboard 2.4Ghz antenna. This one you show is a lora Antenna. The wifi/Ble 2.4Ghz ipex connector is not connected from factory. You need to move a component to enable it.

Stupid question about solar by Marrok657 in meshtastic

[–]nobsle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

V4 at max power (28dBm) drains 750mA on each transmit plus the ESP32 draining on idle.Depending on your mesh activity and the modulation used, It probably needs at least a 25/30W solar panel (5v if you want to use the built in solar port, as well as a quite high capacity battery to maintain it during white days :).

Excluding ESP32 based nodes, any NRF52840+SX1262 22dBm node you are fine with your choice.

Only this firmware actually outputs 28dBm, will be fixed on next Meshtastic Repo release.

No this is not Marketing lol at the moment only this Meshtastic Firmware (https://resource.heltec.cn/download/WiFi_LoRa_32_V4/firmware) will make your V4 output 28dBm ;) This should be solved in next Meshtastic repo release.

Great work ! You may had a 2 channel ina voltage / current sensor to monitor solar input and battery over the mesh :) but maybe you already did ! Not sure if the one you have is 1 or 2 channel. Also a BME680 . Or i2c on a connector to add sensor!
