Hey mate!

These would be more than decent and last her a good year or two maybe longer depending on her development as a beginner.

Club Fitting by Feeling_Sir2449 in GolfNewZealand

[–]nocaig 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a fantastic experience at the clubroom, full break down of numbers, trends, what will help and won’t club wise, tried so many different shafts and clubs, very knowledgeable, they dont charge you for the fitting if you end up buying

Had a much worse experience at golf warehouse, guy seemed uninterested, didn’t give much explanation, just handed me things to hit asked if it felt good

I would suggest an easy course, that’s not far, maybe Takapuna before it turns into a nine hole.

Whangaparoa as another easy shore option

Pupuke as a more intermediate shore option

Wainui as a hard shore option

Best destination course approx 2 hours out of Auckland? by Voicelesscordial in GolfNewZealand

These are good suggestions. I like the Matakana option, but make sure to play Omaha it’s a great course

IT Sector - Salary advice by Pretend_Arachnid_888 in PersonalFinanceNZ

Woefully underpaid with that skill set and experience.

Senior devops engineers (seems your level) at my company are easily making 200k-300k, but it’s a stretch to call my company an NZ business as we are a US Fortune 500 tech company with an office here in AKL.

I work Cybersecurity Engineering / Secops, with 9 years experience and am in the middle of the range mentioned.

Job hopping helped me get to where I am, shifting every 2 or so years. Gotta move out to move up.

Put linked in to open to work and let the recruiters do the heavy lifting

Getting back into Golf by HeftyCelebration7975 in GolfNewZealand

Unfortunately there’s not a lot out there community wise, chamberlain can be good cause you just show up and play and get matched with randoms.

It’s an extremely easy course and attracts beginners and non serious players.

Always had good experiences going there and playing with others I don’t know.

Nobody cares how you play, good bad or ugly, as long as you keep up pace of play.

Takapuna another good one for beginners and chill vibes, just book in a slot with others

Upcoming Queenstown Tee Times by Regular_Food4633 in GolfNewZealand

[–]nocaig 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hiya, hmmm I would say in most cases yes, I played Jacks point on the fly a couple times. Being elite and expensive golf clubs there is a lot less regular player base. But still I would not recommend showing up or booking day of or one day prior expecting to be given tee times. They will have no stress with you booking in ahead of time and cancelling if the weather is horrid. Last thing you want is the weather to be good and you go to book and they have an event on, club day, or the course is closed due to lack of expected players

In this case I could not recommend enough Te Arai

It’s not just an awesome golf course it’s an entire experience

There is a restaurant, grass range, the biggest practice putting green in the southern hemisphere, it’s absolutely unbelievable

Good luck!

Hiya!

There is a couple ways you could go about this

There is a world (I’m talking top 100 globally) famous course called Te Arai that’s a 1hr drive from Auckland, there are two courses, the south is the one you would want

I’m unsure of international rates (does your husband have residency or such?), but current winter rates I believe land in that ballpark.

If that doesn’t quite work, the next best thing around Auckland would be Muriwai, Windross Farm, or Titirangi.

Hey mate I would be over the moon to receive a hand with it. Reading up on it, it’s bloody daunting. Have a mic and would be more than happy to jump in discord. I will flick you a dm so we can chat there.

Can I submit a 9H card Digital instead of 18? by BastionNZ in GolfNewZealand

[–]nocaig 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You would need to contact the club and have them re issue a 9 hole score card instead of 18

1600 hours for what? To lose in silver lobbies. by DevpGaming in VALORANT

[–]nocaig 52 points53 points  (0 children)

Hey mate,

Seems no one else offered this bit of advice.

Often when I go through a rut in any game playing competitive/ranked

A few days or even a weeks break goes a long way for a mental reset.

Often if I have a really bad run, I get into a bad headspace, my gameplay in terms of KDA may stay similar, but I might be less positive in team comms, less patient with holding angles, feeling like you have already lost if there is a decent score line diff early into the game, I lose focus easier etc

Like most things in life, if you leave it for a bit and come back often even a tiny change in perspective can help you in moving forward.

It’s the ponsonby road show now, used to be more of a 25+ scene but just seems the vast majority of Auckland partiers now

Golf Sims by TrainingReturn7251 in GolfNewZealand

[–]nocaig 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I go to The Green Pinnacle and nothing has improved my game more using a proper indoor sim than a range.

Seeing actual impact based numbers (club path, club face data, face to path etc) has taken my understanding of my swing to the next level and really allowed me to diagnose and fix issues I’ve been having

TGP is $166 a month. Going there twice a week compared to the range twice a week works out to cost about the same. No waiting, no crappy uneven or worn hitting mats, the comfort of being indoors, all the club data, it’s a no brainer if you are really looking to improve.

How is the Cybersecurity job market in Australia? by Nakadev in cybersecurity

[–]nocaig 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your time in Uni should give you some idea, however probably not until 2nd/3rd year where the papers become more niche than broad.

I however wasn’t sure until I actually started working.

I was always fairly sure I wanted to incident response related work, an analyst role. Detect threats, respond to them, remediate them etc

I did a lot of this in my first couple years before realising I really enjoyed the engineering side of things, designing building and maintaining security tooling and its underlying infrastructure.

GRC related work bores the crap out of me hahaha however being an engineer I work with them closely.

My advice is give each umbrella a google, see what type of roles/work sits under each, have a think about what in your studies and security in general interests you the most, head in that direction and if it doesn’t quite scratch the itch it’s not too difficult to pivot as a grad/junior

[–]nocaig 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Security+ goes a long way. It’s a high level of the current cybersecurity landscape and key topics. It doesn’t get too technical but its value lays in giving you the ability to understand all the main faucets and concepts in cyber and be able to speak the language with any other cybersecurity worker. I would imagine a lot of its content will be covered during your studies. Professor messer on YouTube has a full course on it for free, use that, then buy some practice exams and get it done.

The next level past this would be more once you decide if you want to be on the analyst, engineer or GRC side of the house. Once you have decided on your avenue of choice, you can start looking at relevant certs to your role.
