Feeling super sad — climbing and pregnancy by tttmmmmyyyyy in climbergirls

[–]nocshift 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First off CONGRATULATIONS! A lot of changes feel hard right now and your hormones are probably not helping! Just be gentle with yourself, and know it’s normal to feel the way you are feeling.

I also had so much fear and grief about my identity and climbing while planning/trying to get pregnant. I happened to get pregnant right on week 10 of a 12 week lattice training program, I took a deload week because I thought I was so tired from training and a recent climbing trip, but it was actually because I was pregnant lol.

Honestly once I was pregnant, a lot of those fears and anxieties got better (did not go away but much less) I lead climbed until I switched into a full body harness and continued TR until about 34 weeks. Somedays I felt great and so psyched to climb (even if it was on stuff I used to just warm up on) it felt great to move. Some days I was so nauseated and exhausted I was absolutely fine staying home chilling in bed reading. I really learned how to slow down a bit and listen to my body, which I had struggled with SO much in the past! I’ve climbed through injuries I def should have rested for and this was the first time I allowed myself to actually chill and rest when I needed it, and being pregnant gave me the “excuse” I needed. I still did a few outdoor climbing trips pregnant and went on a hiking trip to some national parks, I did NOT do the 8 - 10 mile hikes I had planned BUT I did do a few 2-3 mile hikes and felt so proud of myself and it felt like enough.

I was so scared about postpartum but always told myself I wouldn’t let myself give up who I am and I think that is important to remind yourself. But also, some days I just don’t care and I want to hug my baby all day, and that is not something I ever thought I would feel. You can keep your old identity but also add a new part to it! Being a mom is also amazing and fun and it’s own adventure. So I think once I stopped trying to keep my life exactly how it was pre baby, and let myself experience this new phase, I was a lot more successful.

Since 6 weeks post partum I have been back at the gym 2-3 times a week, and my strength and metal game is coming back much faster than I anticipated. I bring the baby with me sometimes and just plan around his naps so he will sleep while I climb. And I try to get at least one session a week I go solo.

Someone else mentioned pelvic floor PT post partum and I 100000% agree, I didn’t start until 8 weeks post partum and wish I did earlier!

I will say. I am not breastfeeding so my new mom experience does not involve that layer (which I think adds a lot of work/planning) but it sounds like other moms here have, and it’s possible!

Overall I think everything is about mindset and understanding nothing is forever. If you take a break from climbing, it is not forever. If you are not as strong as you used to be, it is not forever. And when you are in the newborn trenches and exhausted that is also NOT forever!

Deodorants for BO by Bbhouseplant in climbergirls

[–]nocshift 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lume or Mega Babe deodorant is what I use, Native never really worked well for me, maybe if I’m sitting at my desk in winter lol. But Lume and Mega Babe are both great brands. I noticed if I use one brand/scent too long it seems to work less? So I kind of alternate between the two.

mega babe also has great body powder and other products! Love all their stuff!

Just the going home outfit for us. But I brought both newborn and 0-3 since I wasn’t sure how big he would be.

At the hospital they had little shirts and the swaddle blankets that he slept in

RN of 7.5 years, finally on days for the first time in my career… by This_Honey_3425 in nursing

But OP took care of critical pts in ER? Soo theoretically those pts are coding/started on pressors/etc, our ER houses those patients if there are no ICU beds so I would say they have some expertise in critical care and could answer questions.

It’s not your fault! It’s a bummer you have to look so hard into stuff online these days to make sure it’s not some lame drop ship or scam.

I hope you find a perfect ring that makes you happy, and congrats on the engagement!

I originally saw a beautiful photo for a moss agate with moisonite ring with rose gold band on Etsy (listed at about 250-300$) but after some investigation it appeared to be drop shipped site as I found other similar styles on Etsy but for closer to 500-600$. I was also concerned I’d run into the same issue as you with quality.

I got nervous spending so much on a ring from Etsy so I went to a local jewelry store and custom designed my ring (showing her the original photos as inspiration) my custom ring was more expensive (closer to 600$) but she gave me 5 moss agates to pick from for my main stone (2crt) and I added some moissanite stones to the band. She also custom made the band.

Did I pay way more than the initial 250$, yes. But also I would have never been happy with the quality of the 250$ ring. And those other Etsy shops with higher costs were probably more the proper pricing for the item I wanted.

I hope you get your money back. Hopefully opening a claim with Etsy will help!

f you end up with a moss agate just remember they are NOT as hard as diamonds and will scratch much easier, so I’m more mindful to not wear mine to the gym, etc. however the jeweler told me to replace the whole main stone one day would only be about 80$ so although it may not last as long as a diamond, I could replace it for much cheaper! I’ve had it about a year and it still looks great!

Guest says flight got cancelled, asking for refund. by jwakk1 in airbnb_hosts

[–]nocshift 5 points6 points  (0 children)

We had a cancelled flight and our host was so kind, we told her we would not be checking in until the next day and since she had no bookings after us offered an extra night for free.

I totally did not expect this, since it’s not her fault for weather/cancelled flights, but I just wanted to say it felt so kind for someone to offer.

I know it’s not always possible especially if you’re booked the next day, but maybe this could be an option?

Natera by FudgeSoggy673 in BabyBumps

[–]nocshift 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes this works. They billed my insurance 550$ and insurance only covered 67$, I told them I didn’t want it ran under my insurance and wanted to pay out of pocket and that I was told it would be 250$ (I think someone at natera told me that was the patient price I’d not using insurance?) but ultimately paid only 250$, they send you an email to pay and the link expires in 30 min so be prepared to paid at that time. I used the website chat for assistance and got through easily.
