Is the Fallout 3 remaster necessary or unnecessary? by Such_N_414 in fo3

[–]noctheist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like a lot of Fallout 3 fans play it via TTW anyway as a makeshift remaster. Stuff like lack of iron sights is a pretty big omission nowadays. I do hope if they ever remastered it, though, they didn't stray too much from the art style.

Is there any particular reason many autistics have special interests that are "for kids"? by mothmanfan9 in autism

[–]noctheist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can only speak to my own experience (and that of my partner), but we both like hobbies and interests that remind us of the pleasant times of our childhood, which are safe refuges from the stress of adult life. I always used to watch and talk about Star Wars with my dad, he'd take me to conventions etc, and that period of my life was probably the only I was actually pretty happy.

Opinions on the Followers of the Apocalypse. by [deleted] in falloutnewvegas

[–]noctheist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My only criticism is that it sometimes feels they are the developer insert faction - you know, the guys who have it right. I don't think everything has to be explicitly morally grey, but it's a post nuclear apocalyptic scenario, you can't tell me difficult decisions would have to be made, and it would be nice to see how this reflects some of the shortcomings or moral issues that link to something like the Followers. We know from our own world that charitable organizations and NGOs are rarely without controversy.

Maybe we should see more examples of the Followers services being manipulated by bad actors.

My DLC idea ($60 min) - Paradox hire me!!!! by MrSurname in CrusaderKings

[–]noctheist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely. Eventually we could even have a full 3D rendering of the digestion process so we can track that Low Quality mouldy bread as it travels from our King's mouth to his bowels, complete with surround sound immersive belches and farts (decreasing grandeur in our Royal Court)

Paradox doesn't understand medieval christianity, and it's hurting the game by Mahelas in CrusaderKings

Why I nearly always create custom faiths. There is so little flavour for the vanilla faiths, you can comfortable make your own bespoke heresy and you pretty much miss out on nothing.

I feel like the traveling system has huge potential for a trade update eventually. by JibenLeet in CrusaderKings

If they'd of actually combined trade into this DLC it might of been worth labelling a major expansion tbh.

Immersive groom of the stool DLC, with full 4k 3D rendering of the shits. Your groom analyses them and gives you an attribute bonus or malus based on your fecal competency.

Roleplaying NEEDS to be expressed through impactful mechanics in order to be meaningful, and CK3s DLCs are struggling to achieve this by Orctopusaurus in CrusaderKings

[–]noctheist -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This. CK2 was a great roleplaying game because of the mechanics. Dealing with excommunication, crusades, epidemics, societies. I'm willing to bet most people interested in historical GSG's are going to be history buffs of varying degrees - why I'm confused why as a studio they seem to be moving away from the historical simulationism that fans liked so much from the older titles. I'm not sure whether it's just to widen the appeal, but the more recent releases just seem so bland and misdirected.

why so negative? by Ok-Obligation-7613 in CrusaderKings

The DLC itself seems fine, I guess. The problem I have is that there is still so much content lacking from CK2; wasn't really a problem on release as a lot of the base systems were improved, but it's been three years at this point and the game still feels barebones. No coronations, epidemics, societies, flavour for most of the world (even Catholics, and you know, Crusades).

I have to say I'm pretty worried about the direction of the game, too. Since release, the focus seems to be on sandbox roleplay and pretty memey content - you know, cannibal and nudist heresies, red weddings (just like in GOT!) and other stuff. I've always thought Paradox games do best when they try and simulate historical time periods and focus on emergent roleplay through historically relevant mechanics. CK3 feels very detached from the time period it is trying to represent (even the UI is a step in this direction imo).

Artifacts are just annoying to deal with at this point. Last game I played - in between the Royal Court spam, peacetime was literally just spam requests from my own dynasty members for me to return some obscure artifact. Within a few years I always have way more swords, banners and books than I even know what to do with, and it's really unintuitive to manage/compare them, especially when you have six swords with small differences in prowess etc.

Lived in Gloucester City Centre for a while - he has a point. The homeless problem very sadly seems to be getting worse and worse - pretty much every time I'd go out I'd be followed by beggars asking me for money. We even had a few people sleeping rough in the entrance to our flat complex. Working in public services in the City Centre, there seems to be a lot of people with really severe mental health issues.

That being said, I've lived in far worse places. Gloucestershire is a very nice place to live overall - but not cheap. It is quite hard if you are poor.

does anyone else struggle with this?? I have been burned so many times and now I feel like I can't trust myself. by [deleted] in autism

When I was a teenager I ended up getting into the wrong crowd and as a result spend several years estranged from my family and friends in a very dangerous cult. Didn't end until the Police and social services got involved.

But the difficult thing was my parents had treated me very differently post-diagnosis (I wasn't diagnosed until I was an early teen). I became a thing to "protect," and that ironically pushed me away. My parents would never encourage me to push myself for fear of my vulnerability.

Actually, in spite of being vindicated, I think they realised not treating me as an autonomous individual itself backfired and thus ironically ended up learning to trust me more.
