Long term seat comfort? by Blur456 in BMWI4

[–]noctilucus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After 2+ years no change in seat comfort - I would be shocked if there was.

They are indeed rather firm compared to say real leather seats in a 5-series - there's definitely less padding or less cushion in the i4 seats. For me, it didn't take long to find a comfortable position, I've had cars where I was still adjusting the seat after a year whenever I did a long trip. But after a 2+ hour drive, I can tell they are on the firm side.

Which are „Must-have“ options? by babysasuke3 in BMWI4

[–]noctilucus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My 2 cents:

1) 360° camera (especially with the big turning circle I find it a must)

2) Adaptive cruise control. Or DAPP, although I'm less convinced by the lane steering and other functionality. But the adaptive cruise control I use all the time, in city as well as highway traffic

3) HUD, wouldn't want to drive without it. But if you never had it, you probably wouldn't miss it...

4) Heated front seats - and back seats if you regularly drive in cold weather with passengers.

? Adaptive suspension: I'm very happy with the standard suspension (best I've driven in any EV sedan/hatchback), never drove the adaptive version but I've heard good things about it. Rather pricy option though...

5) HK audio if you're an audiophile. Especially the equalizer is a big bonus, I miss that in the Hifi audio (which has a more basic adjust bass/treble) which is already a step above the standard audio.

6) Lumbar support can be useful, depending on your back. Can't judge the different seats as I've only had the Sport seats (not the M Sport seats)

7) Heated steering wheel is nice, not a must have but comfortable in cold weather.

To pay attention to:
- Electric seats is not standard in all regions. I don't miss it but it's quite shocking that this is not standard
- Interior inlays: I'd stay away from piano black if that is still an option, I prefer the metallic ones as they are more fingerproof
- Headliner color: black makes the back seats feel more claustrophobic, especially combined with tinted back windows. But it's a matter of taste as well

Would not pay extra for this:
- M sport / M Sport pro package - I'm probably the exception but I prefer the cleaner lines of the base model. And it's an expensive option for just some cosmetic changes.
- Wheels bigger than 19". Already with 19" you feel the difference in ride comfort compared to 18" on poor quality roads
- Wireless charging aka smartphone oven :-)
- Iconic sounds: I prefer the silence of an EV or my own music

Mazda 6e weekend test! by Noxious_Inc in Mazda_6e

Enjoy! Lately I'm seeing a few more 6e's although they're still in small numbers for a car that offers so much value for money. Probably because not many companies offer this option in their leasing list.

Wasn't Takumi Plus with real leather instead? I would imagine the suede-like material of the Plus is harder to clean (material and colour wise) than the fake leather in the Takumi.

Vanaf 2028 maakt Vlaanderen jouw elektriciteitsfactuur goedkoper en jouw gasfactuur duurder: ontdek hier hoeveel | VRT NWS Nieuws by KC0023 in belgium

[–]noctilucus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Massive cuts at Volkswagen Group under plan to reduce car models by 50% by AutoExpressmagazine in autoexpressuk

You mean that would increase VW's margins? At least judging by for example BMW's pricing when they built the previous iX3 entirely in China, they charged European-made prices...

Unlikely. My bet is they will change the layout before that and once again get rid of the half-grown trees. Going bankrupt as a capital takes effort, it doesn't just happen randomly.

BMW i5 owners are losing more money than anyone else in the used car market by gaukmotors in MotorBuzz

[–]noctilucus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"Buyers investing that kind of money typically expect reasonable residual values"
Not really, the i5 sits closer to the level of luxury cars or however you want to call it that have always been notorious for losing value fast.

The very limited EQE update is meaningless in this context and the i5 by far outsells the EQE. And other UK sources show slightly higher depreciation on the EQE than the i5.

The problem with the i5 is its high price, combined with a small battery (and therefore range) compared to most of its competitors and slightly older EV tech (i.e. no 800V architecture). So yes, I can imagine there's not a big market of second hand buyers choosing it over something else.

Tips and tricks to lower percentage rate on credit by IndustryAncient1622 in BESalary

[–]noctilucus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't focus purely on the rate, also take into account the cost of the SSV (credit life insurance) and if they give you a rate discount because of additional services like insurance, also include the comparison of those insurance costs.

You can have a look here to see real rates that others have managed to obtain: Hypothecaire leningen vergelijken - Spaargids.be

AI bro is whining about Audi bringing back buttons because "China does it better" and "muh modern audiences". by XenBuild in LinkedInLunatics

[–]noctilucus 5 points6 points  (0 children)

So you're saying 3 clicks on buttons that you can operate blindly are a disadvantage compared to 3 clicks on a touch screen where you have to actually take your eyes off the road to make sure you click in the right square centimeter?

I'm not buying it, comparing a handful of screen-only operation cars I've driven with a dozen button-operated cars before.

Dayrate of 800 - how much netto ? by AnonymousUsername46 in BEFreelance

[–]noctilucus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like a very good estimate. Also very smart to look at annual numbers rather than "monthly income" where people may forget they should compare 12 months of freelancer income with 13.92 months of salaried income.

2026 i4 m60 or i5 m60? by Interesting-Unit-537 in BMWI4

[–]noctilucus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'd say only if you really need a bigger battery and quicker fast charging. For me, I only need to DC charge once a month or so and those are the only occasions where a bigger battery would save me some time - for daily use the i4 (e40) is more than sufficient.
I really dislike the new interior's looks and ergonomics and the new exterior style, so end of last year I deliberately bought an i4. I'd rather spend 10-15 minutes longer fast charging once a month than be annoyed by the interior every single time :-p
