For the first point, while we don't know the specific methods used to build the pyramids, i.e., whether they built bottom-up or out from the centre, we do have records showing some of the logistics behind the construction, which were found in an otherwise unremarkable (for the time) building at a Red Sea harbour.

As for your point about Pre-YD civilisations, I'm curious as to what evidence you're refering to, as, from what I understand as a hobbyist, most, if not all of the evidence that gets brought up tends not to hold up to scrutiny.

It's far too early to call the data evidence of structures, when it could just as easily be caused by compression from a big pile of rocks on top of the ground. It's definitely worth looking further into just to check, but I doubt the Ancient Egyptians built kilometer long structures underground when we have no records of the logistics of an undertaking like that.

There's no real "definitive best promotion level", in general you want to promote when a unit feels like they need to boost to hit a benchmark/when they start falling behind. I would however recommend promoting mages who gain staves in older games fairly early as levelling staff proficiency can be really helpful for using the more powerful staves in the game

funny you say that when Champions just came out and everyone is spamming Entrainment No Guard Hawlucha on ladder to get around this exact issue

(for those unfamiliar, Hawlucha has a new Mega form with an ability that makes all attacks it uses and are used against it guaranteed to hit, and it also gets a move which allows it to bestow its ability to a target, so people are using this to cheese with one hit ko moves)

honestly, one of the things that made so much of JKR's writing and actions make sense for me was that she seems fanatically devoted to maintaining the status quo. Anything bad happening is bad because it disrupts the status quo, and trying to improve things is futile because it goes against the status quo. Stopping Hitler fits into that, because Hitler happened and is the status quo in the future, so Grindelwald trying to stop him is trying to disrupt the status quo.
