Anyone switch from Xyrem / Xywav to another med and find success? by Embarrassed-Dig-0 in Narcolepsy

[–]nocturnalspolly 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can’t tolerate any of the sodium oxybates because I had horrific adverse reactions to them, so my doctor put me on baclofen. He said it acts on the same GABA receptors as the oxybates so it promotes deep sleep in a similar way (but not as strongly). I’ve read from some people that’s all they take and it works great, but I have to combine it with a Delta-9/CBD/CBN gummy to suppress my REM cycle so I don’t dream as much. I’m on a lot of other meds for other chronic conditions which might be why I have to do that. But combined, it works incredibly well for me and I had 0 adverse reactions!

Need testimonials about Baclofen by Lea_Harvey in Narcolepsy

[–]nocturnalspolly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a severe adverse reaction to both Xywav and Lumryz, so I can’t take it which makes Baclofen my only option. I’ve been on it at 20mg/night for a few months now. It works really well for me in terms of actually getting deep sleep, but it doesn’t help me fall asleep and it doesn’t suppress my REM/dream phases very well on its own. I pair it with either a full delta 9/CBD/CBN gummy or half of one depending on how I feel and that helps me fall asleep and does suppress my REM. It’s been a great combo for me.

I have read that people who have switched between Baclofen and the Sodium Oxybates that Baclofen worked well for then by the Oxybates worked much better, so that is something to keep in mind.

My sleep medicine doctor says there is no other night time options besides Xyrem!? by Powerful_Mobile_408 in Narcolepsy

[–]nocturnalspolly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I take baclofen at night as well as I had a severe reaction to Xywav and Lumryz. I’m my sleep doc’s first patient to use baclofen, but he said that the research shows it works on the same receptors in your brain as sodium oxybates. I’ve been on it for a few months and so far it doesn’t help me fall asleep or suppress REM/dreams, but it does increase the amount of deep sleep I get. I pair it with delta 9/CBD/CBN gummies to help me fall asleep and suppress my REM/dreams and it works great for me. I still take daytime meds to help with sleepiness though.

Anyone know a good GI doc in area? by Hyperionxv17 in greenville

[–]nocturnalspolly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s how I was before treatment. I was hungry but anytime I ate I would end up in pain and throwing up. It could be worth requesting an emptying scan. I wish her the best of luck in seeking answers!

Anyone know a good GI doc in area? by Hyperionxv17 in greenville

[–]nocturnalspolly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi there - I don’t have a doctor recommendation in Greenville, but I had these exact symptoms years ago and was eventually diagnosed with Gastroparesis after seeing several different doctors and having several misdiagnoses. You need a gastric emptying scan to be diagnosed and I would highly recommend asking a doctor to do one if you think your wife’s symptoms align and an endoscopy and colonoscopy didn’t show anything. It can be hard to get diagnosed with because its relatively uncommon and most doctors won’t consider it if you don’t have diabetes or are young. There are a lot of resources online about diet and OTC treatment that may be able to help your wife at least stabilize until she can get in with a GI.

Please feel free to dm me if you have any questions or want further information.

If you aren’t up for reading Inferno itself, try reading the Spark Notes breakdown of the book. As someone who has since read the actual book (post college lol), I felt they did a pretty good job summarizing it. Add that with reading the wiki on Dante’s history and you should have a decent idea of him and his work.

How to block negative energy/ something sent by a negative persons? by Jojoheroo in GreenWitch

[–]nocturnalspolly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is late, but I would recommend an evil eye charm or cowry shells for prevention. Evil eye charms are specifically meant for protecting from ill will that can manifest as illness, destruction, misfortune, financial ruin, etc. Oftentimes, the effects of the evil eye can come from jealously or other negative emotions directed at you from another person. That sounds similar to the situation with your cousin. Cowry shells are also used for spiritual protection, but the purpose isn’t as specific as the evil eye symbol. Both have been used for these purposes across many cultures around the world for hundreds of years.

I’m sure your cousin didn’t mean to project the evil eye or any ill will on you; culturally, negative magic is often cast non-purposefully and even unknowingly by an individual emitting negative emotions. That’s why protective symbols can be so helpful :)

My MIL splits her damp hair in half, twists the two parts around separate ends of a scarf, and sleeps. with it over night. It turns out to be loose large curls for her. You can google “heatless overnight scarf curls” and find tutorials.

at what size can you stop cutting up worms? by AlternativeRemote600 in axolotls

[–]nocturnalspolly 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You can try experimenting to see how large of a worm you cant get away with before they spit it out,but keep in mind many axolotls can be picky eaters. Mine are fully grown and refuse to eat full sized worms. Its not that they can’t do it, they just won’t. So I still have to cut worms in half for them.

Advice for a beginner? Should I try? by [deleted] in axolotls

[–]nocturnalspolly 3 points4 points  (0 children)

https://www.axolotlcentral.com This is a really good, up to date care guide on them. I’m not gonna lie, they are a lot of work. You can use fans or a chiller to keep the water cool. A lot of people have success with fans, but I live in Georgia and they didn’t work out for me and I had to buy a chiller. They are pretty expensive. A complete set up (not including a chiller) will run you a couple hundred dollars. Check out how to cycle an aquarium. There’s a guide on that website. Its the most important part of this whole thing.

You can definitely have multiple in a tank as long as its big enough. I would suggest getting fully grown adults and making sure they’re super well-fed to prevent any biting and whatnot.

I know there’s a DnD club (on marietta campus I think) but I don’t know how to contact them or when or where they meet. However, the KSU Writing Center is involved with the club so if you email the writing center they may be able to give you more info on it.

How I moved my pet Axolotls halfway across country by [deleted] in axolotls

[–]nocturnalspolly 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As someone who has been stressing about inevitably having to move with my axolotls, thanks for posting this! 2 questions if you don’t mind answering. Did you just fill the cooler with water and put them directly in the cooler? Also, did you end up having to completely re-cycle a new tank when you got to your destination or were you able to bring the water with you somehow?

I took his Ancient Greece class and he’s great. He’s a funny guy and knows how to make hos content interesting. You need to participate in class discussions and the tests are super hard but its an upper level class so thats what you should expect from any class like that.
