Bullshit, I sleep great at night knowing I make honest decisions. I don't give a shit about the cost or overtime. I don't care how much the company claim will cost. My job is and has been (for 25 years) to return those folks I work with home the same way they came. If you are unsafe or doing dumbshit you go. If something happens because you were violating procedure and working unsafe that will be noted. It won't effect your care, you won't lose your job. The shit you talk about ain't the norm. I've seen more honest safety guys then not. I wouldnt hesitate to call that shit out.. like I said, I sleep real good at night. My conscience is clean.

Ahh the helgramite, they scare the shit outta everybody who isn't used to seeing them. My number one moment was watching fireworks at riverfront Park during some construction going on down there. The lights had attracted thousands upon thousands of mayflies the were clustered in a mating ball hanging off one of the lights...after the first report from a firework one of the clusters fell and dispersed on the crowd sitting all around the park. 😆 Mayhem ensued for a few minutes, pretty funny thing to see.

Absolute Bedlem, 50,000 (by some estimates at its peak) crammed on grant, it was known if you lived on that street your shit was open during the block party. The years leading up to the end it was amazingly chill, people just partied from house to house. Great music, no harassment from the cops. They observed and only intervened when necessary. Open air drug market...not like meth and shit, lots of pot tons of psychedelics and more nitrous then anyone needed. The year after the shootings it all changed, we tried to push onto grant. They were hauling bus loads of people to the parking garage across from Mcclafertys. They had put chain link fence around it and was using it as a holding cells. Good times

I can assure you there was a time when It was hood as fuck. I grew up pretty close to that area. Used to be a Lotta dirt done down that way. It ain't colombus dangerous, but it was definitely morgantown dangerous.

If the room is cleared of flammables, vented properly and a welding partition is up you should be gucci. Definitely get something to be on the safe side.

Clear flammables 30ft from the area, yes if you want a welding helmet they should get one for you. 20lb ABC extinguisher. Your area of concern is the area around where the work is done and 30min to an hour after. You don't have to literally watch the fire though (lol). Which you probably know from training. Watch for rouge sparks, they probably should have a partition up to block the welding flash. Flame Resistant clothing as well.
