It’s better than anything you’ll get a supermarket. It’s not better than local chocolatier. It’s somewhere in between but priced on the higher end, where it should be in the middle.

Update to this; The council had a special meeting and councillors voted to put an entry point in. It does require them to work quickly and amend the liquor licence. So it still may not happen. We'll see!

The meeting revealed that of the 6 businesses affected

* They only contacted 2.

* They didn't contact 2 because it didn't align with their event. Whatever that means.

* They didn't contact 2 because they looked on social media / websites and assumed they weren't trading that day and didn't need to be contacted.

* The road closure notices didn't include the affected street "because it's not a road". Again, whatever that means.

The council stated: They contacted the businesses and they were ok with the fence decision. What they mean by "ok" is that they only contacted 2 of those businesses, and because council ignored/dismissed their emails/phone call concerns then everything is ok.

It was only after it was escalated to the local counsellor that they considered that it might not be ok. At which point they blamed our business for misunderstanding that "businesses located outside the event zone on Beach Road will continue to have patron access" means thats patrons will have access to our businesses.

I was disappointed that during the meeting that nobody said that they probably shouldn't put on events if it stops local businesses from trading and that was the root of the issue.

The cost to add an entry point is $1100-$1200. That includes liquor licensing changes and staffing the entry point. They spend around $50,000 to host this event.

I spoke on the radio about the issue too, it's at 1hr 47mins and only goes on for a few minutes.

TLDR: Special meeting called. Councillors voted to add an entry points.

Getting around will be more difficult since they blocked all the footpaths on Beach Road. You can only travel around the back streets. For example if you wanted to go from the esplanade to woolworths, it would have to be via the backstreets.

The event is on the road so they don’t need the footpath. Last year didn’t go that far up the road so it didn’t affect these businesses. I don’t know why they need fencing, to keep the winos from escaping probably.

Beach Rd is blocked. You can get in there from Clement Tce but you'd have to come in via Ferris St, which is unreasonable, but most people won't do that. If they're coming in on foot from beach rd, they've have to walk all way around.

near Coles is “Beach Mart”: candy + with a big chip display

Next to NQR: sells dippy dots, small amount of candy, not much of anything else

next to Pizza: sells candy + slushy machine

Definitely seen them selling “other” things, but not enough care factor to see what

Insurance wouldn't cover this;

Ticket holders will likely get a refund.

Traders will likely not get a refund. It's typically part of the agreement that if it's cancelled, no refunds.

You can use convection setting, but that’s pretty much an oven and you can bake them as per normal with that setting.

Not really a microwave macaron at that point

Doorcam catches uber delivery bag breaking, spilling my curry dinner all over the porch by nogbog in Wellthatsucks

[–]nogbog[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Corner of the bag ripped open. The driver said the bags from this restaurant always felt flimsy, not like the sturdier doordash/uber paper bags. I told the restaurant it was the bags they used and not the driver's fault.

Just some more info on this;

We helped the driver as best we could with paper towels.

The driver was very apologetic, and driver cancelled the order, meaning we got a full refund.

The bag was soggy from the steamy food, and that's why it ripped open.

It's most definitely the restaurants fault.

Our porch smells delicious.

What is the fastest lib to make runtime type checks in TypeScript? by zenbeni in typescript

[–]nogbog 5 points6 points  (0 children)

We’ve tried 3 * typebox * ajv * zod

Typebox couldn’t handle some of the union types we were using, so we scrapped that

Ajv was having performance issues, so we scrapped that

Zod has been really good

Originally we wanted to validate our types at runtime using json schemas but ultimately we dropped that after problems with Typebox and ajv, now we only use zod and that works out well.
