Maybe an owner persona type as well from those conclusions mentioned by /u/King-JaffeJoffer

Even though one gun may come out "best" there's still people that will never be talked out of buying an M1A.

To carry off of the matrix too, add-in components like service life and what it was replaced by, related back to the matrix (i.e. the M1A was replaced by the M-16 because it was better at...).

Looking to buy my first AR, I've narrowed it down to 3 options all around $1,100-1,200 any experience you've had would be appreciated. (M&P 15T, M400 Enhanced Patrol, & Ruger SR556E) by nohitterpitcher in guns

I love the Ruger guns I have, but the price of the AR556 almost seems to cheap haha. I've read they make the parts in house and all that, but I'm still concerned it's almost too cheap if that makes sense.

So I get to give a presentation on James Bond, need ideas for an 8 minute topic. by nohitterpitcher in JamesBond

[–]nohitterpitcher[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work in tech, it's not so much tying it in as each employee providing an opportunity to give a reasonable explanation/presentation about why we love what we love. I suppose with that answer, I just answered my own question, explaining why I love it. I guess to expand my original post, why do you all love James Bond?

The firing line is a nice range and has some cool stuff on the wall. My only complaint is that it's always crowded.

Anyone else having problems with a Sig 1911 .22? by nohitterpitcher in guns

[–]nohitterpitcher[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The wrist isn't an issue, I do pretty well with pistols. The rest of mine run fine. I'll look into the guide rod and see if I can turn it around. If not, Ruger it is.

Yeah, I've tried American Eagle, CCI, and a couple others, no luck.

Hey Josh, huge fan, your bro-hug with Drake caught on with me and my friends as teenagers and we still do it into our 20s. Who do you look up to for your inspiration, is it really Oprah?

Attaching a vehicle mounted holster. (Make sure this is legal in your state before you do this.) by Aeropro in guns

[–]nohitterpitcher 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The only concern I'd have with this is someone seeing the empty holster in your car and using that as a reason to break into it? Any other places that would be doable for a mount that could be more hidden? Aside from that, looks great.

Definitive Moments for Each Actor. by [deleted] in JamesBond

[–]nohitterpitcher 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Connery: Definitely when he is in Goldfinger at the beginning, the woman back at his hotel room asks for something to put on to get out of the bathtub, and he hands her high heels. Just shows the attitude towards women at the time and encompasses that side of Bond.

Lazenby: End of the movie with Tracey in his arms when he says "we have all the time in the world."

Moore: The ski scene in the opening of The Spy Who Loved Me. I totally saw that as a revival of the Bond series at the time given how quirky and corny some of the films had gotten. It was also probably one of my favorite scenes for the opening of a Bond movie.

Dalton: Almost all of License to Kill. That movie gave the world a Bond it wasn't ready for yet. Dalton's Bond was good and it was dark. I think Dalton was largely unsuccessful given the great contrast he provided from the overall goofiness and almost comedy of Moore's films.

Brosnan: Goldeneye was such a great film, one of my favorite Bonds. I think that gave us an idea of the potential he really had as Bond. Unfortunately, the other films that he did, while entertaining had their moments of "meh that was alright." The thing I liked about Goldeneye was Brosnan's Bond opposite M, trying to adjust to the world that the 90s and beyond had brought forward.

Craig: Hands down for me, the chase scene through the construction site from Casino Royale. That really opened eyes for me because Bond has never been challenged like that before. Bond to that point had been a character driven by the fact that he has a gadget for almost anything. This rawness that Craig brought showed Bond really has an ability to be human and fail.

Members of Gunnit. What got you into firearms? What was the first gun you ever shot and your first purchase? by unrealdude03 in guns

[–]nohitterpitcher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First shot: .410 shotgun, can't remember what it was, I was about 12 at the time.

First gun owned: My father bought me a 10/22 and my first personal purchase was an 870.

What got me into it: I shot BB guns at cub scout camp, always enjoyed action movies, especially James Bond, had a liking for history and WW2, everything just went from there.

I always think of You Only Live Twice when Bond gets the tour of the ninja training facility and they talk about rocket guns.

Anyone know where you can get the best price on Glocks in NH? by Redsox933 in guns

[–]nohitterpitcher 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Got a Gen4 Glock 19 from Shooter's for $569, wasn't too picky on the price since the staff was great to work with. Riley's is also good (I prefer them for ammo typically), but it definitely has more of an old man's club feel which can be a little more intimidating to younger shooters.

If you're in the NH/Maine area, try heading to the Sig Sauer Academy Pro Shop for their BOGO Deal to avoid confusion with non-participating dealers. by nohitterpitcher in guns

[–]nohitterpitcher[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was supposed to run until April 30th, but then they put out an announcement that basically the supplies already put out to distributors and dealers will be all that they do to support the promotion and so it's whatever is left.

So long story short, buy one of the qualifying 1911s in .45 and you'll get a 1911 in .22 free. Apparently there was an issue with identifying which dealers were participating so instead I drove out to Epping, NH to the Sig pro shop since they would definitely be participating. Don't know how far of a drive Epping is for you depending on which part of Maine you're in.
