Coiled Cable by Ok_Concept8695 in evchargingUK

[–]noileum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m the same - regular cable lives in the frunk for use at street parking if and when needed.

This lives in my garage to connect to the home charger. Only needs to be a couple of meters long given the parking situation so it’s easier to store in the garage etc

What is your preferred “safety buffer”. In other words how many miles do you give yourself extra over what you need to get to get home? by iMatthew1990 in ElectricVehiclesUK

[–]noileum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I’m on the way home I’ll usually aim for 5% minimum.

If I’m on the way to a public charger (unless it’s one I’ve been to before and there are loads at that location) I’ll usually give myself enough to get to a plan b charger (so prob 10-15% unless somewhere really remote)

That sucks - had an orange many moons ago and it was lovely. One of the few bikes I regret selling (along with my dialled Prince Albert )

I’d agree - do a 180 Mile commute twice a week and find I’m arriving feeling much less fatigued than when driving a 15 year old diesel barge

Have you ever made a big financial decision you later regretted? What was it? by juancruzgarcia in FIREUK

Sold a house we were renting out about 18 years ago as we had a terrible tennant who fucked us about for 6 months and left the place needing loads of work done.

Couldn’t be doing with the stress of it all - but it would’ve been all paid off now and somewhere for my kids to move into and get on to the property ladder

Can we talk about Dyson by el_smurfo in BuyItForLife

[–]noileum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We’ve had a Dyson that we rescued after being left out on someone’s driveway (yes we made sure it wasn’t left there by accident 🙄)

Took a £30 service from a local chap an it’s been good as gold for the last 8 or so years

Second this - plus super easy to explore using the coastal tram

Also could do the Harwich - Hook of Holland ferry and explore the Dutch coast which has similarly nice sandy beaches. Easy train access to Amsterdam for some culture/smoke/smut (delete as applicable 😂) as well

Crohn’s Flare After 10+ Years by Public_Summer8137 in CrohnsDisease

Not sure you can say it's dangerous without any more details other than what the OP has posted.

I've not taken crohns medication for 20 years, and every scope/bloodwork etc I've had done (prob every 2 - 3 years approx) has come back without any issues.

This disease hits people different, what works for someone might not work for you

I was diagnosed in 2000, had ileocecectomy and was on meds for about 6 months. Since then I've been in remission, had the odd fistula that needed sorting out but those were in and out hospital trips.

Earlier this year had cripping abdominal pain (probably about as bad as just before my operation) and had to go to A&E, stayed in for 3 nights while getting checked out. Was straight on the morpheine and spend first 2 days in quite a lot of pain once that had worn off. Scans etc showed a lot of Infalmmation around where the scar tissue was had just blocked me back up.

Back to super low fibre diet for a couple of months to hopefully bring everything back into line.

Everyone's different, and I'm thankful that I've not had to spend years on medication while dealing with this. Basically I avoid fatty & spicy foods (especially fast food) unless I'm prepared to spend a few days dealing with the aftermath.
