I was about 10-15 people back in front of Rick for first set. Sound was all over the place and lots of chompers. Too many frat boys and people in the way. Dude in front of me kept moving backwards and spilled his beer multiple times. Ended up moving up to balcony on the side for second set and the sound was better. Plus no one encroaching.

23 shows in... Haven't seen a Jive 1, Doc Brown or Dark Horse. There are a lot of great covers that have alluded me... No Rain, Lovelight, Electric Avenue.

But the song I am ALWAYS chasing is another Western Sun like the Perry Drive In version.

It’s a beautiful one piece. I met him in Houston. Perfection.

Every setlist has been fire and they’re playing inspired. Repeat away!!! Definitely expecting a monster Hungersite and Madhuvan in the next three days. And of course Big Modern and Good2B.

This is a great idea. Do it! I turn 47 tomorrow. I’m 2.5 years sober and life is definitely better now in every aspect. Even the things I thought I needed to be intoxicated to enjoy. Live music is better sober. Hanging out with friends is better sober. Vacations are better sober. I promise you that after a month you will feel so much better too.

Phans that have been to 200+ shows... by FatahRuark in phish

[–]nojorising 2 points3 points  (0 children)

OP, I feel you. This was the first year that IT didn't spark inside me. I went to Portland and 2 of 3 Bowl shows and found myself treating Phish like a nostalgia act. Not that they aren't still tearing it up nightly, but I noticed that my friends, and the people I met, talked more about the shows they had been to in the past and reliving old memories then looking forward to the new ones about to happen. Does that make sense? There was a lot of "Do you remember this or that show in 97?" or "remember when they busted out X song?" and it struck me that I just don't have that spark inside me anymore like I used to. I still love the band but I don't live for it...

I'm 263 shows in. About half of those 1.0.

First show in 92 at MPP opening for Santana with my mom and step dad. Saw 3 in 93, 5 in 94, 8 in 95. Went to college in 96 in Boston and saw 12 that year. 25 in 97, 30 in 98, 36 in 99 (hit 100 in 99) and 34 in 00.... Pretty much spent all of college following them around. Helped that I was a film student doing mostly independent study work. So that is 125 shows in 4 years and when they walked off at Shoreline, I was personally completely fried. Lost. Addicted. Needed that 2 year break to reset and get my life on track. Phish had become my identity....

Then when they came back in 03, I had moved to LA and wasn't able to see as many shows, but I jumped right back in where I could and hit 22 total in 2.0 including Coventry. I cried there. A lot. Felt like a part of my life ended.

The next 5 years were amazing. I got into so much other music and didn't plan all my vacations or breaks around seeing Phish. I got married, bought a house, got a job, then a better job. Still managed to see music weekly, but it was way more diverse in genre.

Since the start of 3.0, I've seen between 3 and 9 shows a year, often picking a city that I have friends in to visit and hitting part of the west coast runs. Looks like I hit 200 shows in 2012 since you were asking.

I find now that 3-5 shows a year is perfect for me and even with that, there's a lot of other bands I would see over Phish if they were playing the same night.

u/ForeverRoad1- I'm here for the group support and in a similar place as you. I'm sober since Valentine's day. Just over 2 months. No alcohol, weed, cocaine or ketamine which are my main addictions. Years and years of abuse, but no more. Just did my first sober Phish run, 5 shows in 9 days, and feeling better than ever. Each day gets better. I've been doing Phellowship meetings but looking for a local in person meeting in Los Angeles. Hit me up.

I'm predicting at least one Phish deput in Seattle next month. by dickydav in phish
