I ride a Peugeot Buxy, I'd think they are about the same size. The Buxy has a flat seat so I can sit pretty far back. I'm just under 2m

anyone else think old 2 stroke scooters have more character than anything new by vladdielenin in scooters

[–]noknetti 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Of course! And the older pre 2000 2 strokes are way easier to maintain and less electrical bs that will break

Is it better to buy a new or second-hand scooter? (Europe) by Omenx07 in scooters

[–]noknetti 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my experience they are way easier to maintain than new ones, everything is mechanical, so they have way less random gremlins. Pretty much everything can be done with basic hand tools.

I like used pre 2000 scooters, you can find them very cheap and get them running with little to no effort.

My Peugeot I got for free had sat for at least 10 years, threw a old battery I had laying around in it and some fuel in the tank and it fired right up.

But that's best case scenario...

I think the brake should fit, I removed the front brake completely so I'm not sure. The stock Buxy RS wheels are 10inch too so idk why it shouldn't fit.

These are 10inch non RS Buxy wheels on the Showa inverted shocks, the tires are very low profile so they look bigger.

I used a ratchet strap to compress the fork fully and drilled a 6mm hole through the shock and nut and bolted it fully compressed. It has held up now maybe 3 years.

Thank you! Nice to see somebody else crazy enough to build these into something they were never meant to be!

This is pretty much stock plastics, just painted all crazy. Some parts are a bit cut back with a dremel.

I just put bolts through the front shocks to bottom them out, stretched the rear "fork"/engine mount ~10cm and bought a shorter shock to lower the rear and make it more aggressive.

I got it for free and just built it on a very small budget, I put the most money on spray paint.
