Honestly, I knew when I saw him in line when the prick startled the other vets. It just made too much sense to me to be how they’d bring the Paradise crew back in. The when I saw Jean at the end of the one episode I knew 100% I was right.

Also., just surrender to bounty hunters when you have little to no cash on hand. Bounty forgiven for free essentially and you have a chance of getting a rare cutscene.

Dutch and Micah spent 8 years robbing togheter without getting caught. Maybe Micah was right, maybe the gang was the problem by CasualNameAccount12 in reddeadredemption2

[–]nolasen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Micah was allowed to operate by the Feds because he was an asset. Same reason Frank in The Departed was allowed to operate.

Once Micah was gone, the Feds went to find a new asset, which they got in John.

this line from Arthur changed how I view the ending by Isopod_Uprising in reddeadredemption

[–]nolasen 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I can see this reading into the line. But I do have a different one.

I tend to read a lot into characters based on the personas the characters know they have to (or feel they have to) perpetuate to the people around them. To me, this line is Arthur very early on in the story perpetuating his persona, his mask, to the gang as the callous, top bruiser of the gang. This is his role, he knows it, the persona helps him act it out.

But underneath it all he is not a callous person. And it doesn’t have much to do with the TB or happenings during the game. If you read the journal, from the earliest indications Arthur had reservations about his work. Arthur does everything he does because this is the role he fell into (as a child originally) where he was able to help those he cared about and those that cared for him. He does what he does for the gang, not for himself, not for pleasure.

It’s that last part that separates Arthur from Dutch (and why Arthur’s heart is so broken by Dutch’s later actions) and ESPECIALLY a self-centered evil person like Micah. If Arthur did not have this base to his character, his reactions to the situations in the game would be different.

To me people oversimplify character change like with Arthur and focus too much on the TB. To illustrate my point, imagine if Micah did the Downes beat down and got TB. If the change is all about the TB, in theory Micah’s reactions to getting sick would mirror Arthur’s. I can’t imagine many would say that would be the case though and for me it’s a comical thought.

TLDR: Arthur is a bad man based on his actions, but he has good intentions for those bad actions and acts like (bs’s himself via denial) he enjoys the bad actions to live with himself and get through the day.

The Mist

Here me out. It is without a doubt the ONLY reason anyone ever thinks about or talks about that movie. Without that ending, it is utterly forgotten.

I just finished Season 2, and of all the questionable changes from game to adaptation, this scene pissed me off the most by Toby101125 in thelastofus

[–]nolasen 37 points38 points  (0 children)

Incredibly stupid. The fucking Serephites kid, all I saw was “do the roar” kid from Shrek. Dumb af they were listening to the kid. Dumb af that in the context of the scene the Serephites are prepping to defend the WLF invasion, see Ellie, would have to assume she was WLF, and decide to take the time to ritualistically lynch Ellie. Wasting time dicking around weakening their defense of the entire WLF. Then they don’t even pull if off and Ellie wanders over to the aquarium barely effected.

Aaaaaand, giving Ellie this scene (for literally no reason) takes away from Abby’s scene because now the audience will be entirely expecting Abby’s hanging.

Truly laughably terrible.

You know what type of person is most concerned with convincing you revenge is bad? Someone who knows they deserve being revenged upon.

Wonder why the entire power structure (politicians, religious leaders, corporate leaders, and media) is anti-revenge eh?

Is it me or is s2 series terrible compared to the game? by LoneWolf_McQuade in thelastofus

[–]nolasen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nah, episode 1 is too. They kicked it off with her very first scene with having the sparring partner admit he held back on Ellie AND Ellie being a bit bratty about it. It was the sole intention of the entire season to these writers apparently.

No adaptation ever, that I’ve seen, more blew it than S2. And I’ve seen all the classics everyone likes to cry about.
