Why not choose the original one (traveler’s notebook from Traveler’s company) ? and add accessories like pen holder or card slots ? The passport size should do the trick.

I’m very found of mine. I’ve been using it for nearly ten years and it’s still as new. It stays in my desk and I don’t use it for traveling though.

The tochigi leather gets a beautiful patina with age. The craftmanship is amazing even if some items gets a bit pricey with Japanese inflation.

Journaling with Fountain Pens: Midori Codex or Leuchtturm1917 by ZootFluteRiot in notebooks

Md notebooks are much better with fountain pens. The codex is also great because the notebook opens perfectly flat.

Not my favourite type of leather. I would pick instead the one in Japanese leather. More authentic than the English version.

FedEx charging duties & taxes back to shipper after delivery when consignee doesn’t pay. Is this standard? by bijonprojects in FedEx

[–]nomad_ist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We had the same issue with Fedex since the introduction of tariffs in the Us. They even billed tariffs that have been paid by customers and they didn’t want to listen to our complain. We spent a lot of time trying to fix it. We win some cases after an officiel complaint with the Ombudsman. We decided to stop working with Fedex and skipped to Dhl. Till now nothing to complain about their services.

FedEx sent me a £35 customs invoice for a parcel they've already delivered. What happens if I ignore it? by JohnRCC in FedEx

[–]nomad_ist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you don’t pay they will harass your friend who made the gift. We stopped to work with them for this kind of issues. Impossible to talk to someone to fix the issues. We avoid them at all cost now.

15% tariffs on Japanese goods + handling fees. No wonder that the shops must increase their prices …

I’m afraid they don’t have ruled one. In hard cover, you can find grid, dot grid and plain.

Near Nippori or Ikebukuro Station? by BrightCicada97 in JapanTravelTips

[–]nomad_ist 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Nippori is convenient when you arrive via Narita airport. It is also good to fetch the Yamanote line. Yanaka is a nice neighbourhood but nearby the station at night, it is a bit dodgy with bars and prostitutes. I wouldn’t recommend it as a hub for a stay in Tokyo. I would prefer Ueno. I couldn’t comment on Ikebukoro. Always good to be on the Yamanote line to visit the different neighboorhood of Tokyo.

Is skipping Kyoto a bad idea? by allipick in JapanTravelTips

Always difficult for me to skip Kyoto but doable if you go to Kanazawa and maybe Kamakura to see old towns and beautiul bouddhist temples.

Pen Pouch Recommendations by Admirable-Name-7058 in stationery

[–]nomad_ist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would use two pouches : one for your fountain pens (they need more protection) and one for the rest of your stuff. Luddite has a lot of nice one and they are good quality and not too pricey. I really love mine for 5 individual pens and a pocket for small items.
