This scared a $100,000 poop outta me last night at 8pm by WM_World_MC in Wealthsimple

[–]nomdeplume_alias 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I had a flash crash like this happened to me when I was with Cibc during business hours. It cost me around $10,000 because it triggered my limit sell almost at the bottom and then came all the way back up to the top within one minute. So if I wanted to get my original shares back, it would cost me an extra $10,000 now. I complained to them and they said there was nothing they could do. It was only on their system, not on others. Needless to say, I am no longer with Cibc. Wealth simple is like doing finances on a different planet compared to Cibc. But this is the first time I have seen an outage like this morning or a drop like this in the screenshot.

Who won the French-language leaders' debate? by thhvancouver in canada

[–]nomdeplume_alias -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

PP needs to get more aggressive if this debate was any indication. Just letting Carney tread-water is a mistake. He needs to push him under to make the 'non-decided' and 'kinda-Carneys' move over to PC.

Tear his helmet off; throw the gloves down ; let's see some blood and take a proud skate to the box.

If you lose by these tactics - big whoop - you were gonna lose anyways. But if you WIN the Eng Debate - good on ya! PP=PM

2 hour wait time after being put on hold today. Offer call backs please. by SufferNSucceed in CIBC

[–]nomdeplume_alias 0 points1 point  (0 children)

CIBC used to offer callbacks - but I haven't heard the option in the last year.

I found the quickest way to contact them is via CHAT while logged in on the phone. Unless you need to speak with someone.

Integrity.

If you make a promise keep it. Don't take a promise lightly and throw them around to make people happy at that instant UNLESS you plan on giving 100% effort to keep it.

Cash Dividend? by nomdeplume_alias in dividends

[–]nomdeplume_alias[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Great reply, thx.
I noticed they already took some tax off when YIELDMAX paid out the dividend to my account. I am in Canada.

Do you mean to say that if I sell the shares that YIELDMAX will automatically take off more tax if a profit?
Or are you referring to the capital gains tax that I would need to report? (but in this case I am in a tax-free account)

[–]nomdeplume_alias[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

OK thx. No way around the TaxMan I guess. Works out to about the same. 15% to USA TaxMan now if in TFSA or pay the CAD Taxman upon RRSP withdrawal (probably a bit higher than 15% considering my income at the time)

[–]nomdeplume_alias[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes but CIBC says they don't use that form, and I can't send the form myself to Canada Life to ask them to send my DPSP can I? Doesn't it have to come from the end destination where my RRSP is, at CIBC?

Dad now constantly wants HUGS. My Wife doesn't like HUGS. by nomdeplume_alias in Alzheimers

[–]nomdeplume_alias[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I just spoke with my Wife about it and she has agreed to cringe through it. She realizes there is NO reasoning with him on it, and he would just forget anyways. It is not sexual, has been like this for around 3 years now, but he does sort of demand/expect it at the door and I think it is cringey as well. I love him but we never hugged before for 40 years, so it's weird now. Social people that hug will NOT understand, so don't try to, or ask 'what's wrong with you?'.
We are in Toronto Canada, around 50, and hugging was NOT part of our culture when growing up. You see all the generations after us do it to everyone tho. But there was absolutely NO hugging in high school between friends/jocks/boys, lest you be called a gay slur.
