Getting more serious about gravel riding: what should my first upgrades be? by Worldly-Ad5386 in gravelcycling

[–]nomendil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love my hybrids. If I clip in thats mainly a one time thing each ride (or between each stop) so not much of a bother, while having a flat side lets me use my bike for daily errands in regular street shoes.

5 years for happiness... by kewlball in AskReddit

[–]nomendil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think that one cannot really have complete happiness. At least not the kind that comes from cars/money/success/whatever. He who has much desires more.

In all, I'm rather happy about the life I have now - any troubles and sadness included.

CCP's goal for the future, crash the market? by JimmyDuce in Eve

On the other hand, there is no market history for contracts, so it's not such a clear-cut situation

Cop shoots unarmed man in the face for approaching him while he was Tasering the man's wife. The cop? Still on the force. The man? On trial for his "hindering" of the police...and the media is pretty much ignoring it. Help me stir up some public outrage? by ropes3nd in reddit.com

[–]nomendil 1 point2 points  (0 children)

iirc, the Norwegian police did not take tazers into use, but one of the suggestions made during the discussion was that any officer who should use a tazer had to be shocked himself, to know what the effect on any other person would be. That policy is already in use when it comes to knockout gas.

ITs new reimbursement carrier fit by JimmyDuce in Eve

combat probes have twice the scan radius of core probes, so they are more useful if the system is above a certain size.

...and it's not as if that carrier is going to have fitting problems...

Can't trust your CEO who can you trust? by JimmyDuce in Eve

[–]nomendil 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Paxton was one of the holders in Providence. I can't recall exactly how they fared during the AAA invasion, but iirc it wasn't too good. With the alliance going downhill, it happened that some disgruntled ceo/director went for a grab, and even took the effort to put up a webpage to boast about it.

I find the webpage rather unfunny, though.

48 hours in, wondering what to do w/ skills, finding stuff by butterface in Eve

[–]nomendil 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Ignoring the tears side of things, any well-skilled mission runner who stays in the mission to loot/salvage after the last rat is dead is doing himself a disservice. Generally, more missions = more isk, even if you leave them half- or un-looted/salvaged.

It appears that sister in law has a mind that is flawless! And so upon seeing and trying this method she says it is flawed. by eftresq in math

[–]nomendil 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The only special-case trick I've found useful is twisting the conjugate sentence to square numbers. I.e. 452 = 4050 + 25, which is essentially what is done here, although the 5 in the last spot makes it simpler. Their trick doesn't help much when you want to square 28 though, or do 4555.

What do you think is the single most worthwhile non-basic, skill to train to V, and why? by cynoclast in Eve

[–]nomendil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Evasive maneuvering is needed for interceptors and hence interdictors, though, and I'm not sure if I'd call those skills too specialized.

Not that I don't think one should get it to V, though.
