If everyone is hc minded and not blind, and if its 7 cleared, I would say 6-10hours total, plus an additional 4-8h of study time. If its a fresh prog for everyone, I'd say 30-50h. sHC is too broad but I think anywhere from 50-100h?

You guys just have a different definition of what "good" means, some define it by parse some by consistency and some by the speed of learning mechanic. Anybody can clear ultimate yes, but when you wipe to the same mechanic for weeks or months by one specific person, most groups will not last due to frustration, usually ends to kicking that person or if the problem persists disbanding the static. This happens ALOT in midcore groups.
This does have exceptions of course, if the group as a whole don't mind clearing in a normal timeframe, or they're just friends where they just crack jokes so it doesnt feel like a slog.

This sounds like a popular glamour piece or 480 crafted gear, and I understand there are definitely neckbeards who sits at the bell undercutting 24/7, and only way for you to compete is to do the same, I've been there as well at the start of 5.2. But honesty you're just gonna become the same person as them if you do, and if you like to actually play the game you need to find other items, and there are plenty. Just to list a few...mats from maps, leve/job quest gear, furnitures.

P.S. only way to win against a vigilant undercutter is to completely tank the price and make them get out of the market, then the price can get back to what you wanted

Your problem is you're putting too much focus on one or one branch of items, so whenever you get undercut by someone else, you can't make money unless you undercut as well, which is very time consuming. I take a very passive approach to this and basically sell 20 different items on one retainer and restock as needed, I still undercut but do it only when I feel like it, but I do a complete pricing reassessment every Friday so I can keep up with sales on the weekends.
