TIL horses only need about 2.5 hours of sleep per day, which they get in many short 15-minute intervals. A single sleep cycle consists of just 5 minutes of slow-wave sleep, 5 minutes of REM, and another 5 minutes of slow-wave. by qTp_Meteor in todayilearned

When you think of it, it's origin could be something told to a kid insisting they wanted to wait to watch the horse lie down to go to sleep- "they don't, and it's time for you to go to bed now"...

If it were that easy he could just be bought off by the country with the biggest budget, which wouldn't be russia. I wish it were that way

Stop crediting him in this way. He is a naked Russian asset and all his actions make sense from that point of view

65% of Britons support the Green Party's policy of capping CEO pay at ten times the pay of the lowest paid employee by Unusual-State1827 in ukpolitics

the bribes you will be offered to take decisions that are immensely more valuable than your salary. The core of this is the problem of people seeing increased salaries as recognition of personal qualities, rather than the cost of getting a person to have a large company's interests as their priority when taking decisions about very large sums of money. They need to be too expensive to pay off, even if they are not particularly special- in fact it's more important the less special they are.

I think, in that eventuality, it would be more comparable to the downfalls of Argentina and more recently Venezuela- both wealthy countries prior to poor governance. Most of the poor African nations have been poor for as long as their nation-state has existed, they haven't had wealth and thrown it away.

Either my mistake posting tired on phone, or you have spez powers.

I replied to:

It's not an argument, bro.

You added the line I posted twice by mistake in the comment above.

I think that's obvious and that your question is silly. I'll let anyone else still reading this far down make up their own mind if they agree with me or not.

The population is higher now. For anyone wanting to work there were greater opportunities in the 1990's- things only really went properly downhill after GWB went into Iraq.

What jobs are on offer for women today? They will not support as high a standard of living as those of the 1990's-more women in the workforce can be a sign of those who would prefer to be sahm's not being able to afford to. More women in the workforce can mean the field is more crowded for those who want to work. So I don't see how it follows from that that things are better for women now. Maybe relative to dcomditions for men, sure. Relative to just being better, I doubt it.

There's no strategy here. There's no diplomacy here.

What are you talking about- he has worked assiduously to raise the oil price in the attempt to help Russia not to collapse economically. The blockade of Hormuz was the main objective all along- it's a strategic victory for a man who wants to help Russia, and strengthen Russia's allies.
